I havent got it yet... but its not far off I hope.

I want to get it built and run an engine in before we move, but I'm not sure if time will allow...

But once she is built you are more than welcome to spin the tires and compress the shocks...

Yep, agreed, but I just figured the car has a right side brace and a left side one would be needed to link the rear bulkheads to the top plate on that side.
In other words, I considered you couldn't stop the torsional loads with just one side brace and that you would end up with a one sided torque effect . . sort of.

. . . 'course I'm speculating here, since we haven't run the car with a left side brace at all.

Dont know about this. Sounds logical however.

When I tested the car with the left brace I did not like the ultra direct feel, and also found the rear grip went away a lot. Removed it and the car went nicely.

More speculating from me, of course - but how about this:

The ultra direct feel you describe may indicate better chassis rigidity which then affects your set-up negatively.
What if you took steps to accomodate the stiffer chassis - would you be further in front overall?

Part of what's going through my mind here is our last practice day.
We ran a light 2mm rear bar and the rear was probably better planted than I've previously seen. We were also running on the silliest small front tyres (52mm) and the roadholding didn't seem to suffer at all.
