Any of the short rod engines you want to limit the split as much as possiable....

12TR didnt like to rev... but it had a heap of torque, so it could pull the split and pull a huge gear for second.

I have found RB's seem to have more torque than the othe nova based engines....

I'm only talking "out of the box" here... there are things you can do to change where the "powerband" sits in the revrange.

This is how I gear.....

start with stock gearing.... tune engine correctly.....

Gear your top geat till you are just nuging over on acceleration in the last 10M of the straight then go up one tooth....

For first.... start with a 3tooth split.... gear up if too much wheel spin comming out of corners..... gear down for more punch

Keeping an eye on the final split.

You can hear if its not right.

Also laptimes are the best indication if the gearing is working for you..... on low traction days, it sometimes pays off to over gear on first so your not wasting time and traction spinning wheels out of corners.....

Well I had to turn in my 2 speed screws 1 full turn to get the shift point right

And it was still pulling a 20 tooth 2nd gear on the full track at Brendale

It failed 3 tanks after run in. Seems like it was contaminated with forgien matter of some sort. I've had to get the importer to send it back to France for a claim. Hopefully it will be back soon with a blue print sleeve and piston. Can't wait in my own opion it was better than the s3 I've recently been using.

Man that bites dude.

My Rody is great. I like the RB motors as I find that they have better torque than the equivilent novarossi motor.

What were the manufactures thinking when thay made purple the standard colour for RC?

yeah that's right no more purple, but unfortunatly I had to get a nova with the RR it was sort of a package deal. The import for Rb said he has only ever had to send a few motors back to France but when they returned they absolutly screamed, so hopefully fingers crossed they weave some magic on my and I'll have it for the QLD titles.

the importer also does a bang up job on their own modification packages..... Nexgen

Costs a little... but if your not as handy with a dremel as others are well worth a look... not sure if they do 12's though
