I think AMG is right about NTC3 initial resistance lower.

I ran the pixie in the RR this weekend after losing another dogbone in the v1r (only have that spacer thingy for the one-way in the RR, thought I could get them close enough in the r. Word to the wise, do NOT attempt to run dogbones with a one-way without the spacer inserts, there is no combination of jerry rigged o-rings or track width that will keep them in.)

Anywayz after the qualifiers we were tuning the engines and I drag-raced a MT12 powered ntc3 with the pixie. Now from a standing start he would holeshot me to death every time. At least 4-5 car lengths. But on the racetrack this guy is actually a better driver than me. Off the corner, even low speed ones, the pixie would eat his lunch, would run the NTC3 down like it was a traxxas or something.

Now alot of factors are in there, i'm using a centax, he isn't, my jtech is fat on the bottom, etc. But I'm sure of 2 things - 1)The j-tech pixie is an awesome motor. 2)once rolling the ntc3 drivetrain advantage isn't overwhelming.

I am considering to run EP again but I hate the troublesome of preparing rubber tires.

well, i got the hudy because of a few resons:
1. everyone i talked to said to get the hudy over the integy due to "quality"
2. my lhs didnt have the integy set up system there..
and yes teh integy is much cheper thant eh hudy. the hudy is 170(canadian) while the integy is 105(candaian). o well, at least i dont have to eyeball everything now

Yeah they were. I just saw a picture of Barry's Car. That's pretty interesting, I didn't even know he raced 1/8th scale.

any help will be very much appreciatted thanks
You should use 2 stroke fuel. OS recommends at least 18% oil but I wouldn't worry about that. Any quality brand 20 % nitro 2 stroke fuel is fine.

Break-in per OS instructions:
  • Open needle valve 2.5-3 turns out (counterclockwise) from closed.
  • Turn the idle stop screw till the rotor opening is about 1.5mm.
  • Run 4-5 tanks at this needle setting.
  • Close the needle valve 1 to 3 clicks evry 2-3 tanks till highest straight line speed is obtained.
  • If the needle is closed too much the car will slow down. Immediately open the neddle valve 2-3 clicks.
  • When you fine the needlw valve setting that gives you the highest straight line speed, open the needle valve 2-3 clicks.
  • Run the car 3 more tanks at this setting.

nope... if everyone was running VoneR.. then drivers are the only determinant in a race.. its not going to do VoneR any good!

You'll be happy with the HUDY.

I am glad somebody agrees with me here. All the magazines say how quick the NTC3 is on top end, but I just have not seen it yet.

In fact my V1RR is just as quick out of the hole than the NTC3 guys I race. But I do have a centax and they dont.

Agreed. In fact, if the theory of the free drive train were true, it would show up everywhere, and certainly at the top end. My observation is that the TC3 does seem to have "something" going corner to corner in a tight section, and so does the MTX-3 for some reason. It's very difficult to separate driver and car without a big sample to look at.

Drag races are similar - we run a V-one-R & JP. My driver (12 old son) and I have a standing joke for the start of the main. I ask him how many cars does he intend to pass before the first corner. He always says "four" - and he manages to pull this off about 80% of the time. He's just young and seems to have good reflexes.

You have seen a MTX3???

I find the NTC3 definately can carry good corner speed, has great rear traction and has a better setup than the V1R from the box.
