It does have a spring. it's between the adjustment nut and the clutch plate. I have both springs, but I'm not sure which is best for a higher powered engine.

You will just need to test them both out. It's all going to depend on how the rest of your car is set up, grip level, and the track you are running on. It's one of those things you really need to go through some trial and error

The main reason I asked is because I ran a couple races with the gold spring on my Collari Innotech 7 port turbo .12 and the adjustment nut kept backing out. I never had this problem with a standard MT12 engine. I like the fine adjustment that I got from that spring, but it got me thinking that maybe it was just too light for the high hp motors.

OOPS!!!! I goofed. I've got the 47t spur instead of the 49t. I got the gears mixed up with my MRX-3. Sorry.

Also, I'm running the centax, 30% O'Donnells, and #6 R/B plugs.

The 42t spur is an aftermarket delrin gear made by Powerline ( www.powerlineracing.com ). The 22t is a Mugen gear for the Avance. It's a little narrower than the MTX/MRX gears, but it screws on the centax bell and can be shimmed for apprpriate spacing.

my 18/22 pinions are for the mtx2. I didn't know you could get a 42 tooth spur though...... cool!

I don't think you would put that down to the power of the motor.. the clutch would just slip. I sounds like you either have a thread problem, or something is badly out of balance. If it all seems ok, try putting a drop of loctite on the thread when you assemble it.
