The Barber: Nothing wrong with being an electric dude You may have to pull the 2 speed apart to check the setting. I am at work and will try this from memory. There are 2 screws in the 2 speed. One locks the unit to the shaft, goes straight in. The other is at an angle. You adjust the shift point with the angled one. On my HPI it is 3.5 turns out from fully down. You adjust the one with the spring and ball. What you are doing is adjusting the tension on the finger to control the shift point. Run the screw down for later shift and up for earlier.

Default Mt-12 carbureator set up

Hey Barber, welcome aboard!!

You can find some useful tips in Ron Paris' web page, why don't you give it a look.

http://www.parisracing.com/NovaRossicarb.htm

Regarding to hte 2 speed, I have the standard one (no centax, no kawahara) for more than a year and I found it great.

Good luck

Your welcome. I just read the instructions. Not real helpful. I enclosed a HPI shot of the 2 speed. They are the same finger type. Do put loctite on the screws as nitro's have a tendancy to vibrate them loose The stock 2 speed is good to learn on. The Kawahara is a 2 shoe like on the 1/8 scale cars. I have a Vector and that is what they use. Great action and smooth. Cost is a bit steep at ~$80 for the kawahara model. On the clutch I prefer cyntax. Again I have this on the Vector and they work better IMO. My car is a Prospec and came with the cyntax. I would invest in that first before I got the other 2 speed. Here is an article on cyntax clutches that is done real well. Good site. Manticore posted this ~ month back. Centax clutch

Here is one on the 2 shoe 2 speed. 2 shoe 2 speed
I agree on the cool! Love the car.

The 1.1mm springs will make the clutch engage later, giving it more punch off the mark and out of corners. Good luck if you ever want to take them off

So my stock two speed after three years is finally starting to be inconsistant. Is the Kawa two speed worth it? Or should I just get another finger two speed? Does the Kawa two speed need any other parts?

I prefer the consisity of the 2 shoe and the smooth action vs the jerky/hard shift of the finger type. Trying to remember the parts, it is monday am you know Comes with the clutch bell, shoes, shaft and bearing. You have to transfer the gears and "C" clips. For me, it was worth the $$.

Chris, I agree with RC Nitro. If you've got to replace the tranny anyway, go for the clutch style. It's much better than the finger style. It comes with everything you need except the spur gears.
