According to the rules we are supposed to design in a semblance of reality and quite simply the UOP Shadow had the swoopy upper deck prolile that I was after. I also had the priviledge of seeing Jackie Oliver race the real car at Mosport back when I was a kid. The memory is indelibly etched into my mind as "stinking AWSOME". The "music" of that injected 454 Ratmotor was like the actual sound of thunder. It was just brutal - period. (I'm getting goodbumps just writing about it)

Anyway - just to comment on the "tall sides" as mentioned by Scottyoo: the sides look much taller than they actually are because of the upper deck profile, but they're not much higher than the other popular 1/8th on-road bodies in use currently.
Dale, the body looks fine, people blame because the side dams that are just needed to create side grip.

One more important question (at least for me and others who live a the other side of the pond...). This body carries an EFRA homologation number? I don't want to try something that doesn't have an EFRA homologation number, like it and being unable to race with it.

Frankly you may as well release one of those. They are crazy fast around a slot car track. And call it an Audi R10.

If the 1/8th scale rules allow it you may as well go all out.

I'm not denying your skill as a body designer Dale. I'm not denying that these shapes are required to make 1/8th cars handle. But don't pretend it has anything to do with a real car, it doesn't.

aaah yes! The Chaparral 2E - one of my favourite race cars of all time. The mysterious stuff going on in Midland TX at that time was so far advanced - it was the Area 51 of the racing world. Articulating wings, all aluminum big-block chevys, automatic transmissions, ground effects, Rattlesnake Raceway (Jim's private test track) and a one-off key to the back door of GM's Advanced Research dept. I was an amazing era in time. I'm getting those goosebumps again.
If you look up the word "cool" in the dictionary it just says: Jim Hall

dale....

I would never tell a man how to spend his hard earned money.....

but,if I went here...
http://www.chaparralcars.com/2e.php

and read this....

Quote:
As the favorite Chaparral and considering its technical importance, Hall has decided once again to team up with Musser to produce a limited number of "Continuation Series" 2E's for possible use in vintage racing. The new 2E's are true continuation vehicles, not only because they are being built by the original people but also because they are using the original 2E body molds along with chassis parts made from the original engineering drawings. The first of the new 2E series will be displayed at the 2005 Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races where the Chaparral is to be the featured marque

I know where I'd be placing a call mon morning for a new testing vehicle for the new protoform racing aero dynamic stability program....

this way,you can write it off.....

All I can say is after looking at the body Dale created and the fantastic photos posted here of the REAL Shadow race car, I think the fog in North East England may be a little thicker than usual and affecting your vision.

Dale, great job! I think it bears a more than adequate (sp?) resemblance to the full scale Shadow! Some people just aren't satisfied unless their RC race car looks like their favorite 'grocery getter'!
MORE MOTOR, MORE TRACTION, MORE DOWNFORCE, MORE MOTOR (worth repeating), FASTER-FASTER-FASTER!!
Hell yeah!

Is this the car that they modeled to make the SPEED RACER cartoon from that era?
Sure looks a lot like that car!
Also Dale, great job with your new design
P.S. Only the Shadow Knows
