XXtra FM Synthesized Receiver

Anyone used the receiver from the company Team Novak?

Have a look at:
http://www.teamnovak.com/products/re.../xxtra_new.htm

Does it replace the existing reciever, and will it work on any radio including a JR?

Also is it worth the money?

i dont think it will but if you have the xs3 you can buy extra receivers that are sythesized for about $70, im not sure if they will work with the JR R!,xr3, or any other radio besides the XS3

I've had some rather bad glitching problems with my m8 with novak recievers in my gas cars.. You can try it but be wary.

I use one of these in my nitro car(as do many of the guys round here) and I have had no glitching problems what so ever.

I use a Hitec Lynx 3D w/Spectra module

So I'm going completely crystaless, and still no glitching. Not even in nitro.

As for whether its worth the money....I would say only if your racing and you have to deal with a lot of freq. changes. If you happen to use a channel that no one else ever uses, then the XXtra would be kinda pointless....

Otherwise....yes it is worth the money.

I use one in my electric car with my M8 and have had no problems. But I do know quite a few people that have ran them in their nitro and elctric cars and have had nothing but problems. Hince their Nick Name "DIAL A CRASH!"

Best of luck with them is all I can say!

Later,
I know a lot of people here in the KC area who have a lot of reason why they crash! The XXtra is just the flavor of the season. Next year, it will be sunspots or something!

j/k....

I have been using the M8/Switch/XXtra combo since the Switch was availible, and have had the XXtra since it first became availible. I originally got it for use with a lynx 3D / Spectra.

With the M8, I have had glitching once, and that was while another car was on my frequency. I didn't even lose all control, It just decided to jump around a bit.

have you seen someone use the JR synthesized reciever with futaba or hitec? i know they are negative shift... usually you can't use jr/ko/air with anything hitec/futaba. that's why hitec's reciever line the DCX is sold either positive or negative shift

The XXTRA will work with the FM model JR radios.

I've been running the Hitec Lynx\Spectra\XXTRA combo in all my on-road cars for quite a while now. I haven't had a single glitch.

I recently bought my son the JR XS-3. The synthasized JR receiver does not work with the Hitec transmitter. The XS-3 transmitter does not work with the Hitec DCX receivers. However, the Novak XXTRA works with both the Hitec and JR transmitters (when set properly).
