you're right, it is a wrestling match. there may be better ways, but for me i managed by using 2 thin hex drivers, one to position the coils where the hinge pin will go and and the 2nd to hold the wire 'fingers' behind the hinge.
press the whole mess down on the tank just behind the tank's hingelugs, then you shouls be able to remove the aft driver, the cap is still just behind its final position.

now the wrestling match, you need to use a strong thumb to hold the coils in place while removing the hex driver. now you should be able to position the cap in the closed position and press the pin thru the hinge lug and coils.

best of luck, i don't have photo's(not enough hands nor patience)

soften the spring before installation with a couple of pairs of pliers. i'll try to post a photo of the finished tank tomorrow, but the ushaped portion goes through the small cutout in the tank lid.

You guys are luckier than me. I tried to soften the spring until it SNAPPED!! I am only using one leg of the spring on the tank to keep the lid closed. I may just get a Serpent fuel tank if it fits on this car. That or a Mugen/Kyosho one. I really really hate putting fuel tanks together, mainly because of these reasons.

HI i have a few things to ask.
1st
what keeps the little bushings in the lower front A Arms?

2nd
can i use std 2/3 rx batt ( 5 cell) with all the cells in line or will they need to be side by side with the 5th cell on the end? or will the lipo packs from the old car fit?

3rd
i see 2 of the on center inserts for the front stearing blocks only have 2 ears (180 deg apart)on them and 2 have 2 ears (90 deg apart), am i missing somthing here? the offset inserts all look to have the 2 ears at 90 deg.

Thanks
Randy

You all can send me your tanks and I'll assemble them for you, or ask me next time in advance before I ship....

Randy-
Little bushings are held in the front lower arms by the chassis in front and behind the bulkhead and by the arm or wheel base spacer itself between the bulkheads.

You have to use the battery shown in the manual (5th cell on the end) or try to fit the lipo of your choice. Lipo from old car should fit.

Did your kit come with 4 plastic trees in Bag X2 or only 2 plastic trees? Your kit should have 4 of the centered inserts for the front uprights, each with the ears 90 degrees apart, which means you should have 4 plastic trees in Bag X2. The inserts with the ears 180 degrees apart are for the rear spool.

i see now where the bushings will be held in. ny kits came with 2 trees, mike gave me 2 more that we thought were missing, but i have 2 cars, one for me and one for my son Ryan, what your saying is it takes 4 trees per car, OK . and do you know where i can buy a rx pack with that style 2x2 with one on the end? it looks like my lipo will be too wide.

Yes, 4 trees per car. I had sent Mike extra parts trees along with some other parts that may be missing.
Motonica makes a pack for the car (out of stock but on the way over right now), and I think Orion makes one too. I don't use a lipo but I know a few others that do, maybe they can post what they use.

No, it hits the pully in full forward. I set my servo saver to the center. I wish Motonica used a better way to set the servo saver. One bad hit can knock this off center is my worry. Thankfully I haven't hit anything or anyone yet.
