Garen,

Is the classic chassis and engine combo availabe in US and at what cost?

Thinking about picking one up for testing purpose at local track...seems like a good large scale intro class.

According to Motonica the new 2wd classic car will be available in June, barring manufacturing delays. I don't have pricing yet.

Did you lubricate them before installing ANY bearings? While building my car, I took my bearings apart and put in some bearing oil. I soaked the bearings in their bag with more oil in it to keep them fresh as I install them on the car. This is a good practice to use on any car you build.

However, I will note that while building my car, I noticed some of the smaller bearings barely had any lubrication. I think the clutch bearings may have not had enough lubrication in them. I would suggest replacing them.

The only major bearing issue I have experienced with the Motonica cars is the one way in the 2 speed, and that was in my P8.0R. They admitted to having a bad batch of one way bearings (this was over 20 months ago), and that some may have found their way into the P8.0R kits produce in the 2nd half of 2007. Otherwise I have not had major problems since and certainly not with the clutch bell bearings.
Make sure you grease the thrust bearing, and have the clutch working properly. Be careful of lubing the clutchbell bearings as they will spit the oil out and mess with the clutch.

Brad, bring those trays with you to the Kami race. I won't use one there as they are not teching cars, but I'll get one for next time.

Hey Garen!

While building my kit, I did notice the front way bearing in my kit was a little dry. I used some Hudy One-way lube in there and it works BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I have also noticed that other bearings were very lightly lubed while I was assembling the car. You may want to advise people to lube their bearings prior to installing them on the car, just as a safety measure.

I haven't had a chance to drive my car yet as the weekends have been quite rainy. But the way the car looks now, everything is nicely lubed in terms of the bearings! I should post some pictures...

Hmmm... should I?

The one way bearings normally come out of the box with some grease inside. Every Motonica car I have built (about 5 or 6 of them) has been like this. As for the other bearings in the car, I eventually swap them out for Avid Revolution bearings, and I normally pop the rubber seal off and remove some of the grease inside.
