Tire wear is really high on this surface, and even though I started with 77mm rear tires, 15 minutes into the main you could see sparks from the front at the end of the straight when on the brakes.

I get 'alone' with Brian too...but that's between the two of us ;-) I don't mean for anyone to get the wrong view either...

15 minutes? I was sparking at 5 minutes. My fronts ended up at 59 mm after starting them at 71.5mm??? Wow..........

Sounds like the type of surface we had at the Nationals at Homestead a few years back!

I heard about that Nats and the high tire wear. We had similar wear at the old mall, when we switched from one parking lot to another. I think the wear will get better as the club runs more races next year...provided we use the same layout and location. You can already see the racing line if you drive by. 1/5th cars put down a lot of rubber so that should help.

Default Tire wear fix

Get some old tires and pull them with a vehicle with some weight on them, this will take the edge off the asphalt and help bring the trie wear back into line. I did this at the Silver bowl after it was resealed and it made a world of difference. We aso do it after it rains, yes it does rain her every now and agian, this helps scrub the asphalt and remove anything that is stuck to the surface. You can run all you want on the surface but this is the fast way to take care of the situation. Just a thought

Here's my setup from this weekend. This is a good starting point for next time, and might also work on any parking lot track with high speed corners, long straight, lots of traction compound applied, relatively clean but very coarse surface, and cool weather.

Base setup is done on my car and it just needs to be aligned. Corner weights come out to 628, 616, 513, 523 for a total weight of 2280 grams.

This is with the plastic battery tray lined with 3mm of lead tape (all that would fit before I ran out of height), JR 8717s, Spektrum 3500, Hokam 1200 LiPo, body clips but no body, and Castle BEC.

The brass tray was just a hair too small for the LiPo. Ordering more lead tape for the front bumper!

Give Brad of YBslow the info on the Lipo issue with the battery tray. Since he is our man, he may be able to rectifiy the issue. Like is the brass tray not deep enough or are the sides a bit snug for Lipo? Just curious. So did you figure out all the small issues you were getting stuck on? Sounds like your almost ready to race!! Sweet man. Be sure to keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help. That's what were all here for!!

Just wanted to congradulate ALL of the Motonica drivers at this last race! I'm was thinking about you all since I wasn't able to make it out this time. I was way bummed I didn't race with you guys. Well I think the next race will be the Airtronics race in Vegas. Hopefully we can get a full crew of Motonica drivers at this one. I will for sure make this race.

Anyway, again great job guys. You all did great!! Very proud to be part of such a cool group of dudes!!!

Yup getting close now thanks all for the help. Looking forward to break-in.

The depth should be fine, but the length/width is just a bit smaller than with the plastic because the edges are thicker to add mass/weight. The LiPo/Reg barely fit the plastic tray.

I'll post some pics.
