Hi, I picked up a P81 last week and need to buy a couple of things to get going. Which of the following starter boxes would you recommend:

-Hudy Star-Box: http://www.hudy.net/xhudy/news/newsd...&kategoria=114

or

-Serpent POWERSTART (I know it's discontinued but can get one from the local shop at a good price): http://www.serpent.com/product/140000/

This will be my first On-Road Nitro, having run Electric Sedan for years, I did not fell like running a Nitro Sedan.

Any help & advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Either will work, just make sure you can adjust the mounts to fit the chassis.

Thanks Garen. I assumed both would have worked, I was wondering which would be more reliable or would work better.

Thanks.

staikosn1, how do you like your setup? I am planning to also run a RB Classico 9. Will also be using a BLS 451 for throttle and brake, a BLS 351 will be used for steering.

ευχαριστώ !!

I didnt run it yet cause i dont have enough time...
Actually I will start as the manual says to get used to it...
I use grey spinrgs back -550 silicone oil , white springs in front-450 silicone oil.
The RB classico i think is the best value engine atm...
I olso use BLS 451 fro throttle and 452 for steering..
Ill try to post some pics to admire it

Looked at a Mugen clutch and found out that they have a 3 and 4 shoe design clutch.

They have the H0771 Clutch Set which is 4shoe and the H0780 Clutch Set For MRX-4X which is 3 shoe. Guess the one for the x car is better? and from the pics it looks like it comes with an yellow shoe, is that the best shoe to use or is there a better one?

Hey Mate,

Ill get a photo of my clutch on my car later tonight i currently run the Yellow shoe with the 3 pin style flywheel..... it works a dream and never have real issues yet.

Also the Red Serpent Shoe is very good aswell.

But keep in mind give the Motonica Black shoe ago it works well if you set your clutch correctly.

Ill post some photos to show what i use and works well......

Cheers
Frankie

While I do like that body, painted it all black is not very practical for racing.

It's a lot harder to see by the other drivers which usually means getting hit more often then not.

After a lot of 1/12 electric racing in the winter i had my first outdoor national race last weekend. Our national championship has two classes, NK for the real fast sponsored drivers and Nomac for the regular drivers. I run in the Nomac class.

Didn't use the car since last season so on Saturday i did a lot of practice laps. after that we did some setup changes (softer shock oil, different shock positions) and the car felt really good. Also built a new motonica clutch (yellow weights, black shoe and silver spring) and got some help with the setting of the spring tension, i had put the spring to tight. So i guess that could be my problem from last season.

When we came to the track on sunday the track was still a bit wet from the rain. On my first qualifier the track was still a bit slippery but i wanted to run to set a time. during warm up the car and engine felt good but just after i started my run the conrod of my 359 broke So i put another engine in and we used the seccond qualifier (which was dry) to adjust the engine. the engine ran good. for the third qualifier i wanted to make a clean run so i didn't take much risk, my pit guy told me to save some fuel as we didnt know if i would make the 5 minutes. i did 19 laps in 5:08,165 and still had fuel left. (guess the exhaust gas coolers do work) this time put me on a 3th place after qualifying. Cleaned the car a bit, made some small adjustments to the car and kept an eye on the sky to see if the rain was coming. During the lower finals it started to rain and we changed to a wet setup. When it was time for my final the rain had stopped but the track was wet. I started on capped tires but the car felt bad so i came in for aqua tires, the car was still hard to drive. My rain engine stalled a couple of times and i finished 8th.

I am happy with the result, better than last year and a good qualifier. To bad it started to rain as the car was really good on the dry track. I have included some pics of my car before the race and here is a link to the results.
