*NEED HELP ON GEARING FOR HPI RS4 3 EVO?*

We run on a small to medium size trake. It runs on the hot side. It has no low end punch. I believe the gearing is for a large track. Ran it at a series race and the temp was fine(large track). Everyone said it needs the gearing changed. No one runs an HPI out there. Can anyone help me out? The spurs are 47/43 the pinions are 18/22.

You have the stock gearing that came with the car. I am assuming that you are using the T15 engine and stock exhaust as well. There is only one step lower you can go on your gearing so I suspect somthing else is the problem. First make sure that the drive train spins freeley and there isn't any binding. Then try leaning out the low speed needle and richening the high speed needle on the carb. Go 1/8 turn at a time, driving a couple of laps between each adjustment. Also make sure that the pipe and header don't have a gap between them inside of the coupler. A shorter distance from exhaust port to tip of the pipe stinger will give you better low end.

There's a good question. Where is it???? There is no "low end" needle. Has a mid. on the side and the top end and the idle screw. Don't see one. Have any idea where it is?

The low speed needle is the one that looks like the mid needle. Take a look at the HPI web page for the instructions for that engine. Page 2 points it out. Kinda weird, but thats what it is.

I understand now. I will try it out tomorrow. Now my daughter should be happy. Thanks for the help  .
