oops forgot to mention the 2nd gear housings can also cause problems - make sure the bearing is properly seated before installing the engine by spinning 2nd and checking for wobble

I have the 4mm chassis from 3 racing and it fixed my stripping problem. Also, mesh seems to be critical. What I usually do for that is i'll leave 2 eng. mount screws loose and then put the other 2 just to the point that they start to get tight. Then I push the motor over to where the gears are super tight together. Then i'l take off first gear spur and run a piece of paper between 2nd gear spur/pinion. It should open up just a hair. IF you see a big gap, that's too much, tighten the screws a little more and start over. Then i'll put the 1st gear spur back on, make sure it's still tight, then use the paper again on the 1st gear spur/pinion. I'll check the "feel" of the gap on both of them, then tighten up the eng. mount screws I left loose, then tighted the other 2. Hope that helps.

I found out what the problem was for me by stripping gears..

No 4mm chasis, no engine mount no nothing helped.. i saw that when engine perpendicular at chasis is it isnt nice fiting /gear-pinions. The engine has to be so that gears and pinions straight are! Not the engine.. Nothing else helped by me.. That is working like charm now! I didnt have it so and stripped a gear in 3 rounds (it was halfway stripped) then i corected it and from then i drove like 1.5 gallon, without fully stripping it.. So guys check it out if gears and pinions are nicely aligned..

Regards

Your right bro. Even the 3mm chassis is very stiff.

In all honesty, I have built a number of Mugens, Kyosho's, Xrays etc in the past, and I was suprised the amount of modifications I had to make to get things to work properly.

The 12-3SCT was also tricky because the carby rubber would bind with the top plate or side brace, so the old file and countersunk screws had to be used. The carb just clears the top plate by 1mm if less.

Then again, It could just be my old age
Look's really good(SEXY!)

I mostly agree. A lot of 3 racing stuff is junk. In just a couple races I burned up the one way bearing in the front "multi-diff". Now it's just a solid and we'll see how long that lasts. The chassis is okay although with their one-piece motor mount, you'll have to grab a file to make it so that the clutch comes off easier. The titanium pillow balls and turn buckles haven't given me a problem yet either. But, like you, If you have the money, I wouldn't recommend them. If I had a lot of cash to drop on the car, i'd get the mugen/kawahara stuff for sure.

yeah, push the shoes out with the grub screw, and then keep an eye on the shift point as you may need to loosesn the other screws (the ones that us a 2mm hex wrench to adjust)
