Hey guys,

does anyone here know if the Xray NT1 clutchbell fits on the MTX4?

If so, will the Mugen pinions fit the Xray clutchbell?

Cheers.

i believe they're not since the rrr and the mtx4 are not compatible and the nt1 and the rrr are!

1600 battery is ok to the digital servos if you want to try a lipo 2200 is lighter but you need a voltage regulator to mantain your receiver and system working at 6.0 volts, benefit run all day without recharge! but handling a lipo could be risky, I use lipos without any problems(touching wood)

DOes anyone know if the xray 2-speed clutch set is compatible with the MTX4r. My clutch has worn and the local hobbyshop only has the NT1 2-speed clutch in stock.

I am thinking about buying a MTX-4R but I am worried about the availability of spare parts since the model is a bit old and not so popular as an NT1 for example. So I would like to ask you if you think I would be able to find the spare parts I need even through the internet. I would also like to ask you what is the ready to run weight of a MTX-4R without any option parts. Do you think that this car is reliable? Because I have heard a lot about stripping gears etc...

Do you know if Mugen is about to release a new model next year?

I am pretty sure something is cooking...

Having a car that not strips gears is like winning a lottery... Anyone can strip a gear when you least expect it.

Parts availability shouldnt be too hard. It would be easier to answer that question if you tell us where you are from.

I live in Greece and here the mtx is not very popular. That's why I am a bit worried about the spare parts. I want to be sure that even if I need the last small spacer of my car I will be able to find it (at least through the internet). I really hate it when you can't find what you need.

hey guys

i am also having problems with my 2nd gear!! I stip the 2nd gear spurs the one after the other.

Any suggestions??

Some of the things that wouldn't be the "fix" is

1. Gear mesh (always right)
2. New pinions
3. 2nd gear housing ball bearing
4. bulkheads and no overtighten screws
5. i also use 4mm chassis.

any suggestions??

Default 2nd gear strip

I addressed the following items to solve my gear stripping problem, I also have a 4mm chassis.
1. Use the longest screws (12 + mm) that will fit in the holes for the rear bulkhead left and right parts. My car had 8mm screws and they would work themselves loose frequently. Once after I had stripped 2nd gear, I checked engine mount, screws bottom/top and "aluminum" side brace, all were tight. But the rear bulkhead screws were loose, when I tightened them up, the gear mesh tightened up to the orriginal setting.
2. Ensure that the rear engine mount screws are not too long and preventing the engine attachment screws from tightening up fully. I ended up shortening the rear engine mount (chassis side) screws by 1-2 mm.
Since I made these two changes, I have not stripped a spur gear in 8 race outings.

Check the bearings in the clutch bell and make sure the clutch bell is not hitting the 2nd gear housing...

How old is the 2 speed shaft?
I find that they need replacing after 12-18 months of racing before they
start to strip spurs!
Im on my 3rd one since 06!
I find that once it starts stripping, if everything else checks out, the shaft where the bearings run on are worn down enough to cause this!
Since i changed it a couple of months ago, im still using the same spurs i fitted then!
