The mtx-4r has a multi-front diff. You can run a spool or a one-way .

Never ran the 4mm chassis. As far as gear stripping, there is a section in my MTX-4 Web site with some advice on how to avoid the gear stripping problem.

That's right. To lock up the spool, you just place in the two pins where the black o-rings are set. To free it up as a one-way, you just remove the two pins. I can change from spool to one-way and vice versa in less then 15 seconds.

you should try running a diff up front,it will save your car in wear.
and to just see how it will work for you.you may be surprised.

Does the front end (one-way, diff or solid spool) choice depend more on ones driving style or the type of track? Where I will be running, every one with the MTX-4 or 4R runs a solid spool up front. It's a large flowing track with medium to high grip.

Large flowing track ideally use front one way or one way solid.

I read your website about mtx4 and striping gear syndrome.

It's comprehensive reading .... .. save time instead of reading this thread all the way back.

I believe people who STILL get stripping gear should read it and do as suggested.

its all on driving style.... a oneway u need to be a smooth driver, dont use brakes much etc..... spool, u have nice brakes, u can be more gas brake and it isnt hard to drive... and for me, much more consistant to drive... i mean, if u cant drive a oneway (like me) the spool IMO is the best
