Try this easy change: add more front camber

you change caster with the little plastic "C" clips on the top arm...you can move them around. More clips up front the more caster, more in the rear less caster and more upright....

Bobby,

- Ackerman : You're okay, stick to the "A" since that gives most steering during Exit Corner.

- Caster : Try to play around with this. In simple terms, more clips sitting near the front of the car = more ON-Power Steering. And more clips sitting toward the rear of the car = more OFF-Power Steering.

JayL's suggestion of adding more front camber is a good next step as well.

If, after all the above is done and you need more steering, I would start playing around with Track Width and go narrow setting. I.e., the narrower it is the more bite you get. Remember to go a little at a time.

bobbyblaze: What tire diameters are you running front and rear and what side pulley are you running. I would assume you are running the 24t as per the instructions so you could try the 25t pulley. That should give you more steering. I know it did for me. I usually start my tires off at 60mm front and 62mm rear.

Usually, I try not to touch the caster settings. I much like to leave at neutral. I think it is a too "advance" setting to touch.

Like what Ron C. says, when - "Caster : Try to play around with this. In simple terms, more clips sitting near the front of the car = more ON-Power Steering. And more clips sitting toward the rear of the car = more OFF-Power Steering."

I will be confused when i do that.

Just a tip: If all else fails, revert to stock set up as per the instruction sheet and work from there again. The stock set up pretty much works in almost all tracks. That's the beauty about Mugens.

Well i stripped 4 gears today and lost 2nd place in the a-main I was lucky that when they stripped in the quals there was only seconds left. In the main, there was 7min in a 15min main...

Does anybody use this?

I empathise with you. I hold the local stripping record and now i have resolve the issues. Some things i did which may help you.

Check the screws mounting the rear bulkhead if they are loose or stripped? If so change the rear bulkheads.

Make sure all screws on the engine mount is not loose.

Minimum play on the rear shaft.

I am also using the new 2-speed housing and newer spurs.

Try to use the original shims that came with the kit when you are doing the clutch bell end play. I found that by switching to the smaller shims (Tamiya or HPIs) i tend to strip my gears again.

Hope this helps.
