is their any washers on the shaft to begin with, and the size of the cone that is at the base of your shaft is important too, it may come with the clutch in the kit. Aswell the part that goes on the end of the shaft that the screw goes into, the size of that is important, may come with the clutch, and thats where they tell you to shim accordingly.

Good Luck!

you need to shim the flywheel so it can spin freely.

First you need to use the cone that comes with your kit (960) not the one that comes with your engine.

Put all the clutch parts on your engine minus the inner bearing. Shim your clutch gap from this point. Take thrust bearing/clutch bell off, replace inner bearing and place enough shims behind so the bell spins freely.

More detailed info on www.cefx.net for more detailed instructions.

Hope that helps.

Starting on Page 23 of the 960 Instruction Manual it tells you in great detail how to install the centax clutch. If you don't have the manual you can download it here:

yeh i am still having problems with it, i was at the hobby shop today for almost 2 hours while they tried to figure out, neither of my two local hobby shops carry anything serpent. i know the directions in the manual are pretty straight forward but i dunno if i should try shimming the flywheel like others suggested or wut

Nitro,

If you are following exactly the steps of the book, here are the possible problems:

1) too many shims behind the cone
2) cone with too much angle
3) too many shims between the cluch nut and the big clutch bearing
4) too many shims behind the thrust bearing
5) a crankshaft too short (most likely this is not the problem you have)

I think the best option is to call me at the office tomorrow. I will personally talk to you about this. Call at 305-6399665 tomorrow at 3 pm E/T

Paolo
