If you are looking for a first engine, why not start off with an OS? Known for its reliability and easy tuning, the OS would be a better buy for you I guess... Tuning a Nova is never easy...especially for a new starter into the hobby... I'm not sure of the pricing in Oz but the difference between and RS12T and OS 12TR over here is less than SING$40.

Yup, agreed...just that you'll have to spend more time to break it in properly... and of course, slightly more expensive too...

No doubt the are better engines than the OS, but I can forsee that you'll have to spend more time in getting the right carb settings than running the car...

The were the best OS 12 sized engine before the release of 12TR... or the side exhaust version of the 12CVR...

Correction....JP Racing engines are NOT ROAR legal. They have a Tear drop proceeding into the crank, effectivly making the crank bore larger. They are however legal in IFMAR.

as are the new picco's, the revised crank has the same issue. I brought this up with Robert Pogue at ashford hobby and he was suprised when I told him. The current rule effectively (and we know how that is, can you say BS) takes the new picco 12 out of the game in the USA under ROAR Rules. Wait till they try to sort this one out!

see for yourself. DOH!

However it looks real good inside. they fixed the rod oiling hole and added 3 lube catchers to the liner on the exhaust side. Nova needs to add this feature.(lube catchers)This helps to stop piston seizure at the exhaust port.

Wow! That engine looks great, maybe Picco/trinity has finally got their act togethor. After checking out more pix on Yokomo's site, the engine looks pretty maxed out! Not much you could do to it!

Theres always something Trust me theres a whole lot of room in there. Look at the finish on the ports. Especially the intake opposite the exhaust and the right corner of the exhaust port. nice and straight no!

Kyosho is releasing a V One RR very soon. It comes with all the racing goodies you need, including a centax style clutch. I think it may work out more expensive than the Mugen Pro however.
