Default HELP: Has Anyone Ever seen This....

Hey guys,

Here is what I'm looking for: I few years ago, I saw some 1/8 scale off-road buggies with slicks instead of pin spike tires and huge "on-road" style bodies on them. I think they were Corvettes or something. The bodies were huge but seems to be on scale with the tires and wheelbase. They looked almost like 1/5 scale as a complete car.

Has anyone else ever seen these bodies. If so, where can I buy them and who makes them. Thanks.

Steve

I'll take a stab at this, the only thing i can think about that you're talking about that we have now are the new 1/8 GP touring class (ex. Inferno GT/Ofna DM1) they have various body designs. maybe you can check these out and see if its what you were looking for.

sorry if im waaaaaaaaaay off.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I have found what I was looking for. I believe the bodies that I originally saw were one-off specials, about 4 years ago. It seems the class today is the GT class (1/8 buggy chassis, with full bodies) Here is one I found on Kyosho's site. Its the Inferno GT Aston Martin (pics attached).

The reason I asked the question is because there is a local go-kart track that wants us to race at their facility. No one here runs 1/8 on-road. But there are a bunch of 1/8 offroad buggies around here. I was just looking for a full body for the buggies, just to give them a realistic look, when racing on-road.

Thanks for all of the input.....and keep it coming.

I think you saw the ofna GTP's they came out 4 or 5 years ago. They still sell them. They are 1/8 buggys with short shocks and towers and slick tires. 2 speed was optional. They offered a mercedes clk, porsche 911,mcclaren gt1, and viper body.

Absolutely right. 1/8th Rally Game Class is very popular class in Italy and Spain. There are some very specially designed cars for this class that are not derived from a buggy...BMT Cronos, etc. Check here

If they still sell them nitrohouse would be the place to look.
The problem with useing them on a buggy is the height of the shock towers. Ofna shortened the buggy towers and cut the shock shafts down.
