Exclamation hpi rs4 3 engine starting

hi
im a bit of a noob in nitro cars but ive had others for quite a while.my hpi rs4 3 evo wont start.

1)we primed the engine
2)put in the charged glow plug and rotostart and used it
3)and nothing happened
4)we checked the glowplug and it was fine it was heating up the filiment which i burnt myself on so that works.
5)we might had flooded the engine but we solved this and it still wouldnt start.

When we started it loads of fuel came out of the exhaust? is this normal?

Also we did eventually start it but it cut-out after about 2 secs,or when we took the glowplug out.

Does anyone know wat to do?

(the needles on the carb were set right and the air filter is clean)
i was using tornado 16% just to let u know!

If you have fuel coming out of the pipe... flooded or too rich... I bet flooded.

I prime the engine by putting my finger over the stinger (the exhaust hole). Turn over the engine until it enters the fuel inlet on the carb and about a second more. Now take your finger off. Your engine should fire up shortly after that.

Make sure you idle screw is set right. Take the air filter off and look down into it. The gap should be about the thickness of a credit card.

If you have played with any of the needles, reset them to factory settings (check your manual).

HSN = 3 turns from closed
LSN = 1/2 turn in from flush or 1 1/2 turns from closed

Although you GP glows, it may be fouled. This is the cheapest (made) most expensive part of the ignition process. Try a fresh one to to be sure. I have had GP that looked good, but it was fouled (long story short). Taking the GP igniter off and the engine dieing is a sign of a bad GP.

Hope this helped some... I have an RS4 3 18SS and love it... I have had many many good times with it too... My 13 year old son loves it too. Easy to handle and plenty of power!!!

Make sure yoru plug is snug and also make sure all the head screw are tight as well. I just had issues with my LD3 and it was some loose screws in the head.

If you tried a new plug and reset all your needles... Ya may want bring it to the shop if you have one near by.

ok it works fine now thanks guys! But i think the clutch might be broken now! After doing some cool drifts and doughnuts it was still goin but when i accelerated the car didnt move! It just doesnt turn the gears! would this be due to the clutch?

make sure all you DB's are in tact... I smoked a RR DB after I drove over a man hole cover and bounced the rear end pretty hard going WOT. Ran weird after that, so I started to tear the rear end apart and noticed the DB had sheared the end towards the wheel off. Check the main drive shafts too...

Spin each tire and see if the opposite side moves too.

Spin both front to ensure both rear move too and vice versa...

If all is good til now then check your clutch...

Unhappy

i took it back to the shop and they couldnt take anymore repairs but they did it on the spot! and it was a stone in the small gap between the gears and clutch! so now my gears have little nips in them! and cos theyre purple its really noticable! An also my rotostart got caught in the shocks so i had to buy some newones! 24.99 for shocks! i got 14 of them but honestly!

Sometimes I see local kids that have their car set too rich and it dies out after a couple seconds of running after the initial start. It's usually fixable by leaning the engine slightly. Sometimes they richen it up when it's a little cooler or drier and when it gets hot they forget.
