Maybe Serpent should do the same slick marketing ... at least the 720 already comes with a lightweight 2nd speed carrier, lightweight 1st gear one-way carrier and etc etc ... hell, even the rear left and right bulkheads have holes all over to lighten them. downside is Serpent can't sell hop-ups now (well, not a lot anyway) and we are spared some of the 3-racing bling.

Just finishing my NT1, have a 720, it's a brick. but not as bad as an r40.

that has nothing to do with it working on other cars just because the serpent is different

the advatnages of the rear brake one way will work for any car not just the serpent .

for that matter every car will handle differently based on set up's of different drivers taste .

i have driven 3 different mugen on the same day and not one of them were the same feeling , that would go for serpents kyosho's r40 mugen's whatever .

seems the guys knocking the idea dont understand the concept behind the brake one way or have never driven a car with one . dont knock it til ya try it , unless of course you speak from first hand experience owning a serpent and using it .

most of what i have read in the serpent thread suggest it works as described and the benefits are many.

i'll let you all know what my feelings are on the one way on the nt1 after next friday night .

I don't have the pics but let me say this.
The car was pretty much 90% where i wanted it to be. It had a little understeer off power in the 180 deg turns. I went with less rear toe in as I needed the rear to go around a little when on power. The stability and the smoothness of the drivetrain were outstanding.
The off power rolling of the car felt like it was close to a shaft driven car.....smooth. due to the ball bearings and alignment of the drivetrain...impecable. The plastic used is top notch.
21t pinion was to low for Titiwangsa. 22t was perfect. Changed the 59t spur to a 60t and got better accelaration out. Couldn't finish my testing due to my engine bearing deciding to go south on me.

The alignment of the pinion/spur were no trouble with the non adjustable 2 part engine mounts. I'm guessing the pitch of the gears are different for this to work. Am I right?

Few downsides: Plastic wheel hex.. what's that about? The 2 speed looks a little flimsy but let's see how it works in the long run. I had to run a narrow front track width to stop the front dog bones from popping out...it doesn't take much for those suckers to take flight.

I've always raced serpents: impulse, 710, n 720 and they all had to be worked on before i got close. Please don't get me wrong the serpent cars are awesome when you get the setup right. But the sweet spot is rather narrow.

My thoughts....
Serpent: Innovative!
XRay: Refined!

So guys, I have had my first roll out with the car. BTW, it was also my first race with it.

Car feels really great. Because of rain, I haven´t had enough time to test some more few things.

Next weekend I will have my next race. We will see..

AddictedToRacin, will you be in Munster too?

Atomic RC, the custom parts makers, have starting making option parts for the latest car to enter the 200mm market, the Xray NT1. While little information about these parts is available, the first to be released is a machined alumium lower back plate, which is a direct replacement to the standard composite part, but is stronger in the event of a rear collision. The 2nd new part are these new upper engine mounts, but i cant find any difference between them and the original Xray part with perhaps the exception of the materials used.

Gansei: I get the impression that you want to get an NT1.

You've first placed a 100gr weight on the scale before resetting it to zero.....

No kidding, shouldn't the minimum weight be 1750?
Man, you need to put some decals on that body, to get there....
