Actually its on the same link as above, there's a button to download the highest quality version, the same one I have, 160 MBytes.

In the VLC Media Player, under the "Video" pull-down menu, you have the option of selecting different deinterlacing modes. You should check that out. Although it takes care of the interlacing, the quality start to degrade.

How big is the raw footage?

Ooo ... raw footage is 5 GigaBytes, all 9 minutes of it.

From your experience what software do you recommend for video editing and what settings do you think I should use?

At the moment I use videostudio (am not a pro, so cheapo software) and I edit the raw footage, export to MPEG2 DVD settings and also another copy in WMV format for placing as a download.

Holy shnikes. Well I dont feel like registering...lol. I think it accomplishes what everyone needs anyhow at its current state. Its been awhile im kinda rusty. But once I see and start playing with it I could give you a run down of what I did.

But one program I used to use was virtualdub.

http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...aldub_346.html

Also digital-digest.com was a great place for just about everything video , they also have great tutorials. Ive gotten ripping DVD's down to a science.

Also the latest windows movie maker is also pretty good it can output hdtv even.

Thanks for the tips and link Artificial, I'm going to check it out.

RMd gave a link previously which has a page with excellent info on interlace issues and how to fix them using Virtualdub too. I tried it and it worked but the result, at least to my naked eyes, does not appear any better than the NTSC version which is online now.

First, sorry for the late reply. I wanted to do some research on this before I responded and figure out how to do some things.

I only have Video Studio 1.0 on CD, so I had to go and download 11.0 to see what your options are. To my surprise, both the PAL and NTSC versions of the video looks great in Video Studio when I insert it as a video into the time line and watch it. No interlace lines and only some expected motion artifacts. Take a look at these two images:

Image #1: http://www.nitrokb.com/images/video_image01.jpg

Image #2: http://www.nitrokb.com/images/video_image02.png

Image 2 is what I see when I use WMP, VLC or Real Player. It's not as pronounced as the freeze frame, but I do see the lines. I do not see the lines using in Video Studio or WinDVD.

I think the bottom line is, if you view the video with DVD software, you will not see the lines or notice extraneous artifacts. I probably notice the extraneous artifacts more than others because I'm looking for them.

IMO, the output settings are correct. You don't have to change anything you are doing.
