Part 2 is nearly done but I have to rush off and catch the train for a long journey in a short while. Will post it around 11pm Paris time.

I've pretty much wrapped up building my NT1. I'm impressed with the kit itself.

The errors in the instruction manual, and missing/wrong hardware left quite a bit to be desired. Anybody else run into this? I spent a lot of time looking for missing screws and going back and forth in the manual trying to figure out what was wrong.

same here, I got 2 kits and they were each missing 6 3x6btn heads. When it comes to the manual their tech writer must have been asleep. I doubt they do an editorial review of their docs so I can see a few typos slipping though but how could they not notice that they forget the upper bumper assembly step or that the throttle linkage assembly diagram wouldn't even stay together.

Well that makes 3 bad manuals for current nitro cars. Well not bad , but at least with some mess ups.

HPI R40 had a few stinks.
Mugen has like 2 (allthough much simplier).

These dont sound so great though. Anyone with the RRR or 720 want to chime in on their manuals?

Also yeah its very weird the things these companies let slip through. Pretty aggrivating. I thought xray was going to nail this one.

Could you elaborate a bit more on the problem with the throttle linkage assembly?

The two screws that go into servo horn should go from bottom, not top (they thread into the horn). Big deal, anyone with half a brain should be able to figure it out. Yes, there are some minor mistakes in the manual, just use common sense and you'll be fine...

exactly its an obvious error and if anyone had read though the manual before sending it to the printers they would have caught it.

well no, pg 30 ends with the lower bumper assembly step and the 1st step on pg 31 shows the foam & upper bumper already on but not how to attach it.

Anyone with any kit building experience should have not trouble putting the car together after a trip to the hardware store to pick up the missing screws, but that is no excuse for such a poorly written manual.

I used to write technical documents like these and if I had sent something off with this many errors I would have been fired.

Well, on top of page 30 is exploded view of bumper assembly, IMO that's more than enough to put it all together...
I can understand the frustration when you're missing screws and can't complete the kit, but I always keep most common size screws in my toolbox, I loose them at the track all the time.

It wasn't a big deal. For someone who's never put together a throttle linkage it was a bit of a WTF moment. It leaves the impression that the product was rushed to market.

Again, not a big deal; just posting my findings.

Half a brain? Ouch!

To a person that has never built a kit before, I don't think it would be so obvious. They might even think that they need to use a larger screw.

Considering how many kits Team XRAY has put out, I'm quite surprised at the errors that people are finding. The manual is easy enough to fix, but I feel sorry for the new guy that is building a kit for the first time.

Mark is right about the upper bumper instructions. It automagically gets assembled and mounted on the car in the manual.

So the exploded view on top of page 30 won't do?
