Nope. IFMAR rules 1725 grams with transponder (+-25 g) and body(+-100 g) and tires.

Yes, I use two low profile servos.
I already have the brass battery tray and the 30 gram weight.
But with these parts I will never get to the 1700 grams.

Fired up the Cad system to check how much brass I will need and if it is even possible to fit that much to the car. Will need 175-200 grams of ballast.
That's pretty amazing.

This will probably sound stupid, but could you use Dura Fix to weld on some ballast to the chassis - or use Dura Fix itself? I'm not sure how much material you would need to add, but this sounds like an option to distribute the weight.

...or you could use 200g of paint on your body. I'm just kidding.

I'd like to see what parts you used on the car. Its soo light.

Wide composit bumper(21.8grams) is heavier than stock bumper(9.1)+foam bumper.(6.6)

Hard foam bumper is 29.4 grams.

I race under EFRA so the car needs to be 1700 grams.

First of all what I did to the car to get it this light:

- Two Low profile servos
- Small lipo battery (only 43 grams)
- Lightweight regulator by Xceed
- All Ti, Magnesium and aluminium screws, except the bottom one's.
- Hollow mid- and 2-speed axles
- Aluminium Pivot balls + Delrin nuts
- Titanium turnbuckles
- Lightweight clutchbell and flywheel
- Shorted wiring
- Carbon Brakepads + Lightweight brakedisk

That is pretty much it. Here are some pictures of the car as it looks now. Still have to do the wiring. Note the 4 mm lowered tank and 5 mm lowered throttle servo.

The electronics which still need to go into the car, Receiver with the regulator taped to it, New AMB transponder and the really small Lipo.

After I found out today how light my car actually is I started on a brass weight which would be heavy enough to get it back up to the legal limit and would give me the lowest and most central CoG. This is what I came up with, it weighs 202.4 grams.

Now I need to find someone to CNC it for me and it doesn't take an arm and a leg.

@Musti

Thanks, thought the wide plastic bumper without foam would be a lot lighter.

Or just put the stock stuff back in to make weight. Just curious, why did you lighten it so much if the weight limit is 1700?

I use 99% factory xray parts. Clutch bell bearings, and These brake pads are the only non xray parts I use. Its hard to make better parts than xray. I was looking into CSO side pulleys. But that's about it.

In 2009 I already ran my car with the small lipo, lowered tank and brass weight, and it really made a difference in terms of handling. On my home track we have a very fast sweeper, which is followed by the straight. I am by far the fastest in this fast sweeper and enter the following straight with a lot more speed, so I can easily overtake the opposition at the end of the straight even if they have a faster motor.
For 2010 I want to take it further by reducing the unsprung weight as much as possibly and lower the CG even more. By re-tuning the shocks to fit the lighter car and suspension I will have even more advantage. For instance I run 400cst oil in my shocks with different bladders and foams. Creates a lot of grip and the car is really agile. Most drivers don't do this so they are running an over-damped car and don't get the full potential out of their upgrades.
I also really like the engineering side of RC racing, some things I learned with RC I could easily transfer to 1:1 motorsport when I started.
