NEW BEE NEEDS HELP!

Hello, I spent all day assembling the clutch and I am think I must have done something stupid since I am not able to get the clutch on to my OS TZ 5 port per the manual specs.

In step 8 of the instruction, after putting on the flywheel and tightning it against the cone (I am using a Kyosho cone, no shim between cone and engine), I can only get 8.9mm instead of 9.2-9.3mm as shown in the manual, between the flywheel nut and the crankshaft of the engine.

When trying to proceed putting on the clutch, I have 0.1mm of play which I think is wrong. I tried assembing and disassembling many times and hours, but I can't get pass the 8.9 mm.

What am I doing wrong? Help !!!

The length of the cone ( collet is the real name of cone ) should be 6mm

The shape of the collette matters. Team magic G4 collet ( yellow gold ) has the perfect shape to match xray flywheel.

( I already use G4 collette - yellow gold and mugen seiki collet - black, so I know what I'm talking )

Another alternatives : you can sand down the bottom of your kyosho collet against sand paper on flat object. Use fine grit sand paper and start sanding in circular number 8 motion. Use a caliper to measure the length of the collet. I guess 0.5mm material removal is enough to achieve 9.2mm.

Don't use anything between the collet & engine's front bearing.

Ah... I see. Wrong collet ... I wonder why XRay doesn't provide the right one.

Thanks!

He use OS TZ5, and OS engine doesn't come with a collet.

bboy : xray sell their own collet, currently xray made for novarossi and picco engines. I think you can use novarossi collet for OS.

warning : Picco collet really meant for picco engines. I have it, but I cannot install it to novarossi.

ASW7576 why cant you use any shims behind the collet to the front bearing ? Does the flywheel come loose. Even with the nova rossi collet I still have to put a shim in for my 353.

Because he use OS engine. TZ-5

With Novarossi engines, I can use 0.2mm shim before the collet.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to buy xray multi diff system : normal one way, one way solid, solid or spool, all in one.

Ok, this problem is getting crazy for me.. help...

I have the TZ12 5 port engine and have difficulty putting it into my new NT1. Since the OS engine didn't come with a flywheel collar, I picked up a Kyosho one that is 5mm.

My problem is as follows:

1) I cannot get the 9.2-9.3mm with the flywheel nut, it will only let me get to 8.9mm (I can't turn further).

2) when adjusting the clutch gap, even with no shimming, I can only get 0.5mm based on the Hudy tool.

3) when I put the pinion on to the cluth bell and try to install the engine, the pinions only touch the spurs 50% of the way (I guess the crankshaft is too short?).

Can anyone please help? I have been trying to do this the last 3 days and this is getting crazy now...
