301 had the 5th scale nats this year, You will not get nationals of any type back to back years to many tracks want these events.

From the Rule book:
12.1.7 In selecting Nationals sites, the Class Committees must make every effort to avoid having
the same Nationals, or any other Nationals, at the same location two years in a row. ROAR
will try to avoid using the same location on a repetitive basis.

The overall width of the layout is 280' and I think the back straight is right at 250' from acceleration point. We will have updated info and layout measurements posted shortly after the first of the year.

Note to JLock; Juan, thanks for the good words on the track and the folks down at Mike's. Good job on your race weekend at the RC PRo also. Look forward to seeing you back for more soon.

interesting reading. Hmm....a ticket from FL to TX : $400...Hotel $250...Food $200... Becoming a Pawn.... Priceless!

The facts are simple. No matter where they decide to race, people will come. Roar knows this and unless there is a rule submitted under ROAR RULE:
1.3.2 Members are encouraged to submit suggestions to the President, Rules Committee Chairperson or ROAR Administrator that will help in controlling or lowering the costs while maintaining a fair playing field.

Although this rule doesn't specificly state what "lowering the costs while maintaining a fair playing field" is in refrence too, it can be taken many ways.

Looking at another rule, The Executive Committee meets to make the final site confirmations based on the recommendations of the Class Committees.

This being said, here is some new rules:
*A proposal to outlaw Lithium Polymer batteries in all r/c vehicles was discussed. This item was adopted.
*A proposal to increase the minimum Masters age to 45 years for on-road fuel events was passed and adopted.
*Cloned transponders were discussed and priorities will be outlined in the rulebook regarding entrant PT number duplication. This item was adopted.(although priorities were not stated yet)
*A proposal was made to require US or Canadian citizenship for all Nationals entrants. This item was denied. (but, RULE: 5.11.6 Members who are not US or Canadian citizens wishing to compete in National Championships must (present permanent resident visas) have been resident in the USA or Canada for at least 12 months prior to the event. Proof of residency may be required. In the case of a member too young to be issued a driverís license, this proof must be based on the driver's license or identity document of the member's legal guardian.)

Seems to me the bids were not the problem. More like the people in charge just made a decision not to give it to the east coast.

Do you know this as fact? Unless you know something that the rest of us don't, please don't make accusations that can't be substantiated.

Not a problem, dude. I like racing at your facility and what you guys are doing down there. Everything is very professional as far as organization, setup, and delivery of the product. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and makes you feel right at home. I have had fun each time I have raced there (even the times when my car let me down and I did not do as well as I wanted to do). I hope to do more racing there soon (can we say 1/8th scale on and off road). Keep doing what you are doing and we will keep coming back.

For the East Coast guys that have posted here that are upset for this event not being held at a venue closer to you, why don't you do this. Work on getting you car setup perfectly. Get as much drive-time/practice in as you can possible get to hone your skills. Then, come on down to Porter, TX and kick everyones butt at the event and show them that you are the man.

Complaining about it here will not change the decision. Just come on down to the event, have fun, and make some new friends while you are visiting.

JLock,

I don't think is about the ability to race the car. But the expence that all the east coast racers have.

There is no perfect selection system. Tracks put in bids and 1 is chosen. Nothing in rules states 1 year east coast, 1 year west coast.

Personally I believe some of the best R/C racers are right here in Florida. I will say a big group of us around 30 to 40 went to the GLC and had a blast together. Felt like one of our state races. Was nice to see all the racers pull for each other no matter what car they drove.

What do u mean work on our setups and hone in our skills? We have guys on the east coast that will make Texas even hotter. I mean this in an Rc way. Not trying 2 cause trouble.

Let me end my posts with this and I will not reply in this post anymore. I am not saying anything bad about the facility that got the event and I look foward to the 2007 nationals. Yes I will hone my skills and be ready, hope everyone does the same. I started this thread to state my opinion, which I will do whenever I feel the need. Thank God for the United States and freedom of speech. It seems to me that the selection was not done in a fair manor, that is all I am saying. Hope to see everyone at the nationals, I am already excited and we still have a whole year to go. Congrats to the track that got the venue.
