Default Radio Mods?

Ive seen several radios at the track that have some mods on them.

I know what some of them are; spektrum conversions, rocket launchers, etc...

but i cant figure out how to get my 'steering wheel' lower!

they're controllers that look normal, except they have some sort of robo-cop style mod that makes the wheel itself stick out a little and move down an inch or 2, allowing the drivers hands to be close together.

i think this would be much more comfy for my paws, does anyone have any info on these?

thanks!

you are probably talking about KO EX10 Helios. It has a wheel extension upgrade. I use this radio. It's makes things comfortable.

Check on your radio manual if it offers a wheel extension upgrade.

Futaba 3pk has a drop-down wheel option (included with radio).
KO Helios and JR Z1 (same radio) have it as an available option & throw in the adjustable angle for good measure. These are not mods, just options.
The old Airtronics CP & CX models had drop down wheels as do the M8 & M11.
The now extinct, hitec linx 3d also had a drop down wheel position.
I use the Helios and greatly prefer the drop down wheel. Putting both hands at the same level, is a more natural feel.
If you want to mod your radio, go for it! Or, just buy one of the radios mentioned...

I agree with the previous two guys, the helios is so much more comfortable with the wheel lowered and the ability to angle it.

outstanding information!

thanks, fellas.

now, I am currently using a Spektrum DX2 and I dont think it says anything about options for the controller setup, or upgraded parts.

Does anyone have any experience with actually modding a controller?

I'll gladly pull my old futaba apart, inspect the parts to see if some sort of 'ghetto engineering' is possible, then burn the remaining parts in a 'screw AM frequency' ritual, familiar to south australian natives from the late 1800's.

If anyone knows of a simpler method, I'm all ears! (read: eyes)
