Ted said it could be used at the GLC if there were some at the track to be sold. We had them there. It was done in years past with other bodies.

Going thru an old metal box of One-Eighth Racers paperwork.

1977 Race Schedule

May 1st Indy 500 R/C
May 22nd Chicago MWS
June 19th Milwaukee MWS
July 10th Detroit MWS
August 7th Toledo MWS
Sept. 11th Indy MWS
Oct. 9th St Louis MWS

Not sure what this means and NO I was not racing then. Just an interesting FYI.

The Indy 500 was an oval race hosted by the Indianapolis R/C club (think they held nationals in 1968 or so, even before I was involved, and one of their pivotal members was Bob Stevens from Citizenship radios, made in Indy, who was a great announcer) and the 500 festival committee - it was kinda fun cause the r/c racers could even sign up for the kickoff breakfast and the lap around the track as part of opening day festivities.
I'm a terrible pack rat and probably have some literature / newsletters lot's earlier than 1977, crap I've been doing this waaaaay too long

I have a open invitation to setup a booth at the Detroit Grand Prix to promote RC racing in the area, and possibly help move along the idea of having an RC race during an event like this. I sent out an email several weeks ago asking for volunteers to help man the booth (free tix to the event) and I only got onew response. What a shame... My deadline to apply is monday. I guess It wont happen unless people contact me ASAP.

There is alot of stuff going on that weekend.
Cincy is having their RC Pro 2 day race the Tri-State 200.
Chicky is getting Married in Cleveland that weekend. (We may never see him again)
Then there are always the family things. (Can someone tell me what an engagement party is? HELP)

Last on the list is some Football. Oh well, it is only money. Just give me time.

I guess you're right, I guess I shouldn't really be saying 'shame on us' to anyone considering the circumstances for the labor day weekend. Unfortunately, Roger Penske could not be reached when I enquired about moving the date for the DGP because of the schedule conflict... Regardless, anyone out there that was thinking of going to the Detroit Grand Prix instead, please contact me for free tix asap.

No need to be a dick Tom, but at the same time that could answer the question of why no one wants to help you out........... It also might be time for you to give up on this whole DRCC thing and realize your really truly the only person who cares anymore. I'm sure it would be a lot less stress on you and you might not hate everyone for never wanting to help.

Just my .02....

No problem, and actually, this wasnt' really a 'DRCCC' thing. In fact, I probably won't be doing much of that any more since there is really no interest anymore. The purpose of my intentions to set up a booth at the Detroit Grand Prix to do something positive to promote RC racing in the area by passing out flyers about RC racing in general, showing off RC cars and videos, and to give information about where people can race, Midwest Series, Toledo,CEFX raceway, and Larry's to name a few...

Default You're Wrong, Tom

I never told Tom Kelley that the Midwest Series started in Detroit or that Detroit was one of the original clubs. I don't appreciate the misinformation. I worked hard to help keep the Detroit club in business for quite a few years and did the same for the Midwest Series. If my son and I ever race again, it will undoubtedly be in Toledo.

Nice weather has been ordered for this weekends MWS race in Chicago. It has been granted by the RC Gods. Just to be sure go to www.midwestseries.com and pre-register so the RC Gods know who they might be screwing with.
