Default Need help, picco G1, G1xp

Hello, I am new to 1/8 scale on-road and I was wondering if anbody knows the difference in parts in theses picco motors. I have a G1 (silver body blue head), G1 XP and a G1 pro? (black body, grey head). Could you physically interchange the piston/sleeve, crank and rod in these motors? Iknow the porting would be different. Also, I heard the carbs are troublesome. Is there another brand carb I could use?

Default Good Luck!!!

Hey, I wish you luck trying to find parts for that engine. I tried everywhere, and everyone, and no one had anything. I had the same exact setup you have...and I was able to swap parts, and the motor ran, but I was not confident enough to use it for anything more than practice. I actually gave away two brand new pistons and sleeves because I could not get a con-rod. jim Hottinger was the person actually modding the Ron Paris motors, and he does not have parts. Thats when I held up my white flag...if the guy who worked with these motors does not have parts then thats it. Oh! Just in case you call OFNA, they don't have parts either; they only import Picco off-road motors, and those internals are completely different. Sorry, to be negative, but I hope this saved you hours of hunting.

You might want to look into seeing if the Mega .21 on-road motor used by Serpent will work... That motor is made by Picco and the internals just might work... Don't know... Try this thread and pose your question there...

Go to Serpent.com and do your search there as well... Good luck

Try ebay and there's a seller called avamp1. This is Ron Paris' close out sale ebay store. They have some parts that you may need for your picco (piston/sleeve, con rod, crankcase, crankshaft, bearings, engine head, and carb parts). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply freelance. So, LIL Paul, The pistons, sleeves, and rods do interchange between these motors? Do they just have different porting?

The G1 and G1 pro parts exchange only difference is the crank. The XP series is different all together. Wrist pin is bigger, bore and stroke is different also. XP is a four bolt head....G1 is 6.

Quietstorm, the G1 XP I have has a six bolt head and the main case looks identical. Could the four bolt motor you are talking about be the off-road or older version?

Hmmmmmm. I thought the XP's where 4 bolt. I stand corrected. I have a Picco Collari that broke the rod at Winter Nats this year and it's just sitting around. I searched forever just like you for a rod but never found one. I have a couple of cranks also. Don't know if that would help.

Well, I am unfamiliar with collari piccos. Is it a six bolt head picco? I might be interested. Do you have pics? As far as the cranks are concerned, I can take apart one of my motors and take some measurements.
