The BMT 891 indeed was the one with the red & black plastic parts with the Ball rear diff. The "Austin" Car was named for the 1991 Worlds held in Austin,Tx. Mike Queller, Chuck Threat, and myself put on the 1991 worlds in Austin. Mike and I also ran the Bmt 891 in the Texas series races in 1990. In January 1991, We had a Worlds warm up race (which was also a Texas series race). Mr. Grarofoli and Mr. Maroni were there without their Team Drivers to check out the track and surface. They also brought Mike a prototype of the "Austin 891". I was Mike's mechanic so I built the car. The only difference from the early "891" and the "Austin 891" was the rear diff had been replaced with a locked rear axle. The red plastic had changed to green and the front pully drive ratio had been changed to match the locked rear axle. "more overdrive to the front)

In th actual race Collari used this version of the car to win his second world championship. Queller later became the US importer for BMT.

BMT was once distributed by Kyosho, when they didn't have a car of their own. My friend had one with Kyosho logos on the BMT box. I find this as interesting detail in RC history

Default Kyosho BMT 891 Austin Custom Light?

Anymore information on this thread? So the BMT 891 came with red parts and as someone previously mention the BMT 891 Austin had green plastic parts/changed front drive ratio/solid rear axle...but also a 3 - Speed gearbox correct?
