Default Kyosho Spider

I have been looking into buying a gas powered car for some time now, and just found one for a decent price. Does anybody have any info on this car? Its a kyosho spider. Is it any good? Do they have big problems? I have never heard of this car and was wondering if its a good car to start with. Thanks

I would avoid getting the car, mainly due to the fact that it is a quite old design, at least 5-6 years. It is not as durable or adjustable as the latest cars.

i myself have a spider mkll. the car runs great and fast BUT, i do not recommend them becoz, 1) parts are freaking expensive for such an old car. 2) kyosho is gonna stop making parts for them soon. 3) parts availability is a pain. 4) the brakes sucks, the pulley thats holding the brake rotor keeps getting strip when u brake real hard from a high speed. 5) sloppy everything. 6) the 2 speed housing is prone to stripping. 7) the 2 speed gears wobble and are not stable.
and thats all i can think of. but the price is very reasonable. 150 bucks for the kit and 370 for the car w/ gs11r engine. the engine alone costs 140 bucks! can u believe that? 140 bucks for a .10 engine. in my experience, this engine has a real long life on it. ive gone through 5 gallons without having compression problems.

Default Spider

It is one of my favorite rc car of all times.

I think it is because I was surprised the way the car handles after installing ball diffs front and rear.

Latest version is MK2 wc edition

Only problem with this car is the 2 speed. I must have stripped and broke about 20 of them.. Gs11R engine is the most trouble free engine you will ever find however its is weak.. Slow but fun.. It is the little engine that can and has the will to survive though 7 gallons of 20%. I changed it to CVR engine and broke lots of 2 speeds ... I don't it can handle the speed..

I'd get a V1R and an OS .12 CVR. The Spider is outdated, and parts are very hard to find in hobby stores.
