Default Nitro RTR (Ntc3 or yokomo Gt-4?)

I'm starting Nitro for the first time and now I want to know which is a better kit and deal. Is the RTR Ntc3 better then the yokomo 60MPH Gt-4 RTR? THe speed is incredible for a RTR! How fast does the Ntc3 go out of the box?

Well, the NTC3 RTR only has a single-speed and a Roar-legal .12 motor compared to the Yok GT4RTR which has a two-speed and is running a .18 . . .which is going to be faster out of the box?

So, question may be - are you going to race it? I can tell you that if you bring a GT4RTR to a track and try to race it, the guys running their .12's are going to be just slightly irritated with you. . . and, in many series and races, two-speeds are not legal until "Expert" level classes. (I know that Hobby People series in Southern Cal is this way)

So, if you want to race, prolly either get the GT4 and lockout the second speed and change motors or get the NTC3 and just start racing. . .

I've owned both and both are very good cars (I bought the kits.)

NTC3 RTR out of the box will do about 40+mph, installing the 2 speed trany will make it 50+ or even reach 60 with the right tuning. Why not get the kit instead, the stock engine of RTR will last 4-5(max) gallons of fuel then you have to replace it with a more decent engine which will cost you around US$150.00. If you plan to stay in nitro a long time, I would reccommend getting the kit not to mention that you can choose your own radio. Though the radio in NTC3 RTR is fine for a start. But I bet that you would want a better one after you have use it for sometime.

Well the reason I don't want to build my own kit is because it's too expensive for my budget. I practically spent all my money on my electric touring car. So that's why I want to get a good-quality nitro and cheap one as well. Thanks for the help. And I'm only looking to play with it at parks and parking lots. Not racing. But if I am ready I will take your advice about the engine and 2 speed tranny Boomer. Is Megatech RTR good?

I have 2 tc3 nitros.......and really enjoy them..one thing I do like is the obvious NO BELT issue......all last year, people were breaking belts(Impulse,reflex,etc).....our track is clean, but they still break...

I happened to pick a a 3 run RTR yoke for a hundred bucks.......thought I'd give it a try in my parking lot in front of my condo........2 tanks!..rock got caught......

ESPECIALLY if your playing in a lot.....SHAFT DRIVE is the way to go....
