Default megatech neo saber 1/8

Im new to the 1/8 scale nitro and I just purchased a neo saber
from a friend. I was wondering if anyone knows if the wheels are
interchangeable with the serpant or the hpi proceed?
Also, which engine is better the rossi maranello or the novamega
michael salven? and which tuned pipe? Any HELP would be
appreciated........thanks willystilez

Front you can use the serpent but rear you can't or charge the rear wheel shaft to serpent one so that you can use the serpent rim at the rear as well

As per engine I think mega will be the better choice, a lot easier to tune.

For a pipe combo I would run the new RB conical header and a polished 086 pipe. If you can't find the RB header, try the picco.

Willy, you'll be able to use serpent spur gears and brake pads, I think you'll be able to use serpent 1st gear pinion as well, but I think that the second gear pinion has a different pitch.
Just check that you'll be able to get the motor you choose in first, as I know from experience that some don't fit.
You'll be lucky to have a good source of spares as well, as you'll be able to get parts within the U.S from http://www.teamcrc.com/Neo/CRC%20Neo.htm

Good luck with your 1/8th car.

If you're new to 1/8th scale you can use any .21 engine with an SG (pilot) crankshaft. When I started I bought an Ofna engine for $150 to learn with, not the kind of engine you'd want to compete with but not $4 bills either. Calandra racing has parts but I understand they're getting out of the Neo line to concentrate on the STS line.

Yeah, Neo is dead in the water. Only the stock shops have is left now. I know DSI in Australia still have large stocks and Calandra have a good range remaining.

As for parts. Nearly all the Serpent Vector NT parts are interchangeable. Both cars are practically identical.

The Serpent NT and Neo Saber parts are interchangeable?

Yeah. They are both basically the same car. Almost all the Serpent NT parts are interchangeable with the Neo Saber.
The same goes for the Neo Attack 235mm and the Serpent Impact and the STS Madog.

Not sure if they still have the Neo stuff on their website but if you look at the Neo spare parts list on the Calandra website they state clearly which parts are interchangeable.

Thanks for the link to this place on the Yokomo forum.

I'm not badmouthing Neo, but I would assume they copied Serpents design?

Is NEO established as far as winning races? I've always looked into these cars.

From what I gather the Neo company was originally started in Holland. I read somewhere that the guy that started Neo worked for Serpent before hand and then set up his own company. But he basically copied Serpent designs.

Neo was a winning car in the US and Australia while it was in operation. Calandra Jr won several major events over the past few years with both the 235mm and 1:8th cars.

It would be a cheap way to get into either of these classes as Megatech have been selling the cars at real discounted prices lately. And with the amount of parts still available from Calandra and Serpent you could run one of these cars for a few years yet.

Unfortunately. They stopped producing a couple of years ago. Apparently some Asian guy living in Australia bought the rights and the last anyone heard he was going back to Asia to begin producing parts but not actual kits. Nobody heard from him since.
