Default Should I upgrade my MRX4 to the R

Hi guys,

I have a mrx4 not R, should I upgrade to MRX4R by buying parts? I have quite a lot of parts for the mrx4 that will be useless if I change those parts to R.

Is the difference significant enough to upgrade? I also have a mrx3 works edition, I can feel the difference between the mrx4 and the mrx3 works edition.

I am just an average joe driver driving at crystal park in comption.

Thanks

I can tell you from experience that it's worth it. I converted mine to an R and it's a very noticable difference especially in corner speed. You can charge harder into the corners and get back on power sooner.

You'll need those Steve- they're body repair kits. When you get a big gash in the body they get a few more runs out of it for you by holding it together.

You should just CA two of the lightweight bodies together and you'll be fine

Front and rear shock towers, rear shock bodies, front upper arms and lower, front uprights and washer kit for tie rods and front axles.
rear body mount and optional chassis if you want it.
the optional chassis is stiffer, it has solid material where the old chassis is cut out around the engine area.you can also get the eccentric bulkheads front and rear, but you dont need em, they are fairly cheap though and you can adjust the tension of the belts.
i think thats about it.

Akshun I putt em on before the car hits the track, helps keep tares around the front body mount holes. Something else Ive been doing for years that works like a snake charm; Lexan radio box tape (boat and airplane guys). Put it on areas that are likely to crack and thin areas on the body and under your body brace screws or rivets. It goes on the outside of the body(its crystal clear) and wipe the areas your applying it to with denatured alcohol before you apply it. It has to be put on before the body ever gets run.

Sometimes it's easier to just sell the 4 you have and get an R. The amount of parts needed to convert is larger than you think (don't forget rear shock bodies, shafts, both shock towers, clutch shoes etc.). The work it takes to convert is almost as much as building a new R. Especially if you plan change the bulkheads. Plus, it depends on how old your 4 is. There are always "running" design improvements with all Mugen cars and parts. Most of the time they are very simple and you don't notice, but they help a lot. I know there were many with the 4 so you may never know if you have the latest stuff. jm2
