regular alkaline batteries work. I have the jr xs3 and jr rs 300 reciever. I have the stock servos that come on the rtr team associated nitro tc3. The reciever and servos require 4 aa batteries. I have two things that the batteries plug into and only the alkaline will work.

Most receivers operate on 6v nominal. 4 alkaline batteries at 1.5v gives 6v. 4 nimh batteries at 1.2v give 4.8. That is why most rechargeable receiver packs have 5 batteries in them.
