Tires for Concrete
 

Hey guys,

I need some recommendations for types of tires to use on a pretty low grip concrete track. I tried foams (40 shore Ellegi) and got almost no traction, it was one power slide after another.

I think rubber make work the best. Any recommendations on HPI tires or any other brand available at a Hobbytown USA. Will slicks be the best tire for this purpose?

Have you tried Schumacher Mini pins, they are pretty expensive but great on low traction surfaces.

If the surface is clean, foams should work good. 40 shore is a little hard tho....try some 35 shore or 32's.

Medial X patterns are good rubber tires. Treat them with some Paragon and they should stick to anything.

40 shore isn't hard at all. Some races guys even used above 40 shore for the track. Start with 40 front 37rear, 40 all around, or 37 all around. Work on suspension adjustments also.

i race on concrete and use 30 rears and 35 fronts ;)

I would think his concrete track has plenty of dust too....40s are way hard. And I would think they did not spray anything onto the concrete for extra traction (it will be ugly after race)...

Yeah, I don't see you will have any traction unless you are going 35's and less (32 and 30s)

Sorex rubber tires work well on concrete. If the surface is too loose, foams will never grip.

if 40's did horrible , go 37's and lower. I like to use tire additives as well. I kinda keep it mild lately , just use tire tweak and leave it in a zip lock until race day.

Just makes the tire really really fresh feeling.

I would go fot the twisters shore 35 of shore 37. It with give you the ultimate grip on your track.

A great thing is that you also get huge discounts when you purchase more tyres.

You can see the prices drop on that shop when you purchase 5, 10 or 20 sets front and rear tyres. This goes for both 1:10 and 1:8 scale tyres on all available shores.

Ok but there is already a thread open for this...I'm not sure the OP was looking for advertising, but just recommendations.

Ask the race organiser to spray the concrete with sugar water quite alot before the race.

I would try 30R 35F, or 35R 40F.

its hard for concrete, not for your regular tracks. (it sure aint soft :ha: )

from my previous experience foam tires don't work well in concrete. You should try running rubber tires.

Use to run on concrete using foam typres, later change to rubber tyres. Quite effective. Now change to rally tyres. Hopefully, they can run well on concrete. :blush:

I used to run on indoor sealed concrete (glass like finish) I ran 40 front and 37 rears with 4 coats of Flowable silcone on the foam. But I don't believe this is roar leagal. The surface was treated with mountain dew. really hooks up nice until the silcone starts to peel off.
