Tight is not good.

You have several options, all of which we can continue to discuss before you take any action.

- Raise the engine. Not your best option, but I had to do this in the past.

- You can probably file down the header tab that is touching the tensioner and drill a new hole for the header spring.

Is the belt touching the bottom of the pipe at this point?

Also not so good.

What you might want to try and do, is use some 1-2mm shims to raise the engine and see if it's still touching. I'm not saying to run the car like that, just see what type of clearance you'll need to clear the tensioner and/or the belt and get some proper tension.

Have you got any other pipes or headers lying around? Like perhaps a Skyline VR12 Plus? Have you got any other engines?

Ya, I have an O.s. Tz with an ofna pipe I will try tomorrow.
How much play should be in the side belt. I know the mtx4, it was waay loose. The Ky manual doesnt really tell how loose or tight to have it.

Yeah, the Mugen belt is way too loose. RRR belts never get that loose. Tension wise, I usually move the tensioner down so that it just holds the belt down. If you push the belt down with your finger, there should be some give, but not a whole lot. It should feel a bit loose.

The belt (I use the SP belt) will loosen up pretty quickly. I had the same concern when I built my car. It will stretch a little bit.

I'm not familiar with the Ninja engines but comparing one of your pictures to my OS, it seems like the exhaust port is quite a bit lower on the Ninja. But that sounds like problem # 2.

The part I'm more concerned with is that you mention the tensioner is completely loose and the belt is still very tight. What pulleys are you using on the main shaft and middle shaft? Are you sure they are the correct size per the instruction manual?

23 on the front, and 18 on the rear. Ones that came with the kit. Like I said, this is my first ky kit...so I am in a little bit of unfamiliar territory. The belt is the 384...if that helps any.

gday fellas, in the process of buying an evo, usually buy my gear from rcchamp but they said he cant get his hands on the new wce team evo for quite a while. So looking at seeing if they can get me the vone rrr evo instead. Questions are I also seen rcmarket online here and they seem to have a good price on the RRR evo , has anybody dealt with rcmarket before and any feedback from using them.
I am bit confused with the Vone market, Kyosho has so many bloody models of this car. I have owned a modded FW 05t for about 2 years now so looking to make the step up, my question is should I try and get my hands on the wce team evo or will the RRR evo be more then enough for me. Looks like easy to upgrade parts if I needed to and the price looks good imo compared to the wce team evo.
Thanks

Actually, it's doing surprisingly well. Very fast. Since I upgraded a bunch of parts on it (too many to list at the moment ), it runs much, much better than version 1.0.

the ninja engine sit's slighly lower than some other engines i had to take it out for now since it caused 2 belts to stretch since it was rubbing against the pipe

Really..so there was no way around it? Would shimming the engine so it sat higher be a good option, or what about turning the belt tensioner so it faced the other way?
