Default Back in the Nitro Onroad Game

Hey everyone! After being out of the RC game for over 15 years I've been slowly nudging myself back. Curious how many others are in the same camp? I've come to realize the importance of the hobby / RC community, and want to help promote the hobby so we can see more activity.
I want to purchase a new Nitro 1/8th kit. I've looked into Serpent and Mugen, but both seem to be out of inventory.
Is it still possible to purchase these nitro kits? Are parts easy to get? What do you recommend? I want to get a competition worthy kit.

Also, I'm eyeing the Serpent Viper 990.

Since Covid kits have been slow to make it this way. Also check out ARC R8.3, hobby square in the US carries ARC.

DeSoto Racing has the Serpent 990 in stock. You can order from them online.

Wherever you plan to race, find a brand that has local support. That will help tremendously with set up tips and parts support. All of the current cars seem to be bery good.

As stated above, pretty much all current car kits are quite good. I am partial to the Mugen but any brand will be a great choice. Just gravitate towards a brand that has good support in your area especially since you are returning from a long break. That extra support will get you up to speed much quicker and you will have a better time with friends beside you.

Thank you all for your input. I visited a few local hobby shops in my area (currently in Phoenix, Arizona), and unfortunately most support primarily electric. Very few kits or parts for Nitro. I will have to depend on online retailers such as AMain and DeSoto. I may consider electric but it is not as appealing. I was able to assemble a few locals intro Nitro running 1/8th scale through FB groups, and hopefully this can potentially grow into something bigger.

You wont find many local hobby shops that support nitro on road, look for what local racers themselves are using. Its common to share parts, setups, etc.. Nearly all purchases online.

Mugen back in stock! Run what is supported locally if possible. Since you are getting back into it, see what most folks are running at your home track for support. I run mugen if you need any help, let me know.

I am also waiting for new one. still running MRX 4 and MTX 4 both with kawahara options. both from my on road days. i am still trying to get back into RC for about a year now. i even tried off road, seems like i cannot get that feeling 15 some years ago. maybe a Brand new 1/8 and 1/10 scale onroad cars helps. off road is not doing it.
