2022 Midwest Series

Time to think about the 2022 MWS Season.
Dan Lewis contacted me recently and said he will have a track in the Joliet area for the 2022 season. He didn't give specifics on exactly how it will happen. I guess we'll have to wait and hear his detailed plans. Good luck to him.

Dan found a great landowner who is into all motorsports. I know a meeting is scheduled for Feb 23rd to stake out the dimensions for the asphalt. The owner is being very generous. Dan would really like to mimic the Toledo Track layout.
I understand Cincy will be laying asphalt in the spring too. Then theirs's Big Dog who I feel we owe big time. Three tracks would a great thing! Here's to hoping everyone can pull it off we can have another great season!

I hope many of them will join us. We have had discussions about "relocating" the GLC south to our new home.

Just got the sort of news no body likes to hear. Long time nitro racer in 1/8th scale with racing accomplishments a mile long, Rick Davis has passed. He went back to the Paris days and was very competitive up till the end. I am sure there are others that can pass on some great stories and do better justice to identifying his racing accomplishments than I, so please share them with us.

He was the greatest at driving a car from ground level.

We also just found out that long time Midwest Series Racer Mark Foss from Cincinnati also passed away.

The start of 2022 race season is still a little ways away. But time flies. Especially when you get older. And there are quite a few getting to be "Old Timers". This year I've decided to step down as MWS director, not because I want to, but I believe my business travel is going to get hectic this summer. I've mentioned this to a few racers but I've just confirmed my decision. This will be a little different season then most considering 70% of the racing schedule will be on new venues that don't have a race track, yet. But the plans are in the works, and the people involved are optimistic and excited. Nick Altieri is gathering information about the new venues and is talking to fellow racers to put together a MWS directorship. Not sure he's going to do it alone or put something together. We'll let him tell you the plan.
Last year everyone gave me plenty of support so that we had some place to race after loosing our 2 main tracks. Thank you everyone. I'm sure you all will to the same thing for Nick.

Thank you for your past efforts Directing the MWS! Not just this past term, but in the past. I hope you at least get to race a few races this season and get a chance to see the two new venues. Safe travels and take advantage of all those senior discounts.
This season will be an exciting one! I've talked to Rene Y. (Cincy) and they are grading now for the new surface at the fair grounds they moved to. The Joliet track (Wilmington IL) should ready for paving by mid March. The established track, Big Dog Racing, Stoneboro PA. rounds out the participating tracks tracks. The anticipation for a great season, number 53! is huge!
The schedule will be posted soon! A few dates have to be confirmed and then you racers, the backbone of the MWS, can plan accordingly. See ya at the track!

Some confusion about the new schedule. These are the remaining dates:
MWS: Sept 10-11; Big Dog, Stoneboro PA
MWS: Oct 1-2 Cincy (Lebanon) Ohio Warren County Fairgrounds
NOTE: The new GLC will be Aug 25-28 at Cincy!
