Make sure the screws for your motor mounts are secure, top and bottom, and make sure you dont have any extra movement in the endbell.

Do someone knows about this ? they less no longer than 5 minutes (I ensure that the gap is ok).
A lot of times I have to set them a little tight and run them in with no load!! Basically use light pressure to push the pinions closer to the gears and run the car up in the air for about 5 minutes letting them seat together. It should free up and become smooth and last a long time as long as the pinions are not sharp or worn too much!!

Centax 3 question....building my 720 and the clutch is the last thing to deal with. Usually when I am building Centax 2, I need a 0.5mm shim before the colar then the flywheel and whole 9 yards...but on the Centax 3 manual, it does not show that I need any....however, on my parts bag, it has several shims....do I need that 0.5mm shim...?

On Serpent website, it said DON'T forget to add that shim....I've tried that, and my clutch gap is like ZERO...llike I don't need any shim...that does not make sense.

If without the shim....at least I need to add 0.1mm shim to set the 0.7mm clutch gap...

So, do I need that shim or no..? Thanks...

I do not think you need it. I do not use it. Just make sure that the flywheel clears the case.

I think he is running 1.6mm tension on the nut. He is also running the 1.8 black spring. Flyweights I'm not sure...I run the regular weights cut to fit between the pins instead of on them and my clutch gap is .6 All of this with noshim behind the collar!!

Yellow shoe, stock weights, 1.8 spring, .6 to .7 gap and spring tighened 1.7 to 1.9.

I recommend tighening your spring to 1.5 to start and if you need more go to 1.7 or 1.8.

This clutch set-up is very good and consistent.

Melvin helped me with the clutch this weekend and followed similar steps and it was night and day difference in performance with the motor. Both temps and performance improved with the motor.

Thanks everyone....great help.

Just did the clutch measurement...in order for me to get 0.7mm clutch gap, I just need to add a 0.1mm shim behind the thrust bearing...does that make sence..? Yes, my end play is very minimum, clutch housing can spin for 2-3 seconds (not 5 seconds unless I am spinning the housing HARD...).

Just want to double check before landing the car on ground...

What are you guys running front one-way axle or front solid axle, what are the advantages or disadvantage of each, I would be running this car at the homestead track for those who are familiar with that track

Good Luck, I have not seen any for sale in a while. Thank god I kept one for me when they did come in. That was a while ago.

SER 802525 have never shipped to the best of my knowledge. I had them on back order from day one. We did get a number of SER 802526's but sold out of them earlier this month. I expect more of these options will start showing up after Serpent delivers the 960-08's in a week or so.
