Outdated??? Um, no. The MTX-4 hasn't even been out for 6 months yet. The MTX3 is an exellent car and can hang with any of the current tourers (RRR, MTX4, etc.). If you need to do anything, try removing some weight from the upper portion of the car and any rotating mass. But that's just bonus speed/acceleration.

The MTX-3 is still a very competitive car. I wouldn't consider the car "outdated" because it still can compete will all nitro sedan cars in the market. The nice thing about the MTX-3 is that there are parts available and a lot of set-ups still on mugen seiki USA and Japan websites that'll help you get dialed in for various track conditions. If there's any sedan car that mugen produced thats considered "outdated", that would be the MTX-2 and the shaft RTR car that they developed 5 years ago.

It is still a very competent car. The new car is faster in the right hands, but it has some faults that need to be worked out. Once this happens, the 4 will possibly render the -3 outdated. Only time will tell.

BUT given the choice of x4 or x3, 99% would choose the X4.

If the budget permits, yes. But when you can get a nice -3 for $200 and the -4 kit is still over $400, there is a big advantage to getting the -3. For the $200 you may be able to get a really nice ProSpec with some hop-ups.

It really depends on how much you are paying for the 3....if you can sell me a nicely used fulled loaded Prospec X3 for $200....I really doubt the stock X4 are MILE faster then X3....

Newer cars always make ppl buy, because it is NEWER....more ppl run it because they just want to get themselve the latest, and NOT all the newer car is always better.........In Mugen case, the X3 are world champ chassis, at the end, it come downs to .....how much can you spend?

Chris, As long there is parts support for the car it is not out dated! Mugen just made some changes to keep up with the Jones'!!! (aka mtx4) The mtx 3 prospec is a outstanding car that handles very well and they can be had for a very good price. Good luck!!

Howard, they are out there for that price. If I had the money, I would pick one up for a backup. It would be nice to have a spare car for when I break a shock tower, burn up a clutch bearing, or strip a spur gear.

How can the father retire when the son hasn't even grown up yet. Do not let those new-equal-good opinions and business voices affect your own judgement.

having a spare car is not cost efficient. why have a complete spare car with servos, receiver and motor ready to run? not to mention the engine tuned with correct gearing.

it would be more easier to carry the few essential spare parts. if you cant change a shocktower or bearings between heats then you shouldnt be in this hobby.

and like you say "if i had the money" ...
