The ntc3 works good on smaller technical tracks. I have a friend that uses one and he does well with it.

Those are Great Cars! I have an old RTR that I run at our local track(with a few upgrades). Even though it's got the old rear suspension, and a side exhasut motor, it's still very competitive. You don't need the latest and greatest to be fast...

The NTC3 can hang with anything till you get to the well groomed fast tracks then the lighter cars tend to pull away.

But the NTC3 handles rough tracks better than most race ready cars. I always suggest the NTC3 when people are getting into the hobby because it is tough enough to handle bashing and you can race it box stock and do well. RTR or kit. (Well outside of the crappy AM radio that comes on the Plus)

I've always thought the R40 and Factory team kit were equal machines. So you wouldn't have gone wrong either way.

also, if you have to run rubber tires instead of foams, this is the car that I choose. It is true 1:1 drive front to rear.

Nothing wrong with it at all just look at the 2004 ifmar worlds.
The Ntc3 were up against the v-one RRR and mugen MTX, 710 and so on and if it wasn't for electronic hicups they would have made it to the A main.
Deffinatly good cars.

Its not that NTC3 are old but team associated don't bring out new cars that often eg: Factory team T4 is not a new truck but it is still winning same goes for the NTC3.

But i would say once you get the feel for the car just add opption parts.

I really try to stay away from everything thats Associated... NTC3s in my track never last more than 4 minutes. If I had to choose between the NTC3 and the R40, I wouldve gone with the R40 since its considered to be a tank like the MTX-3 (although the R40 is much more heavier). Honestly, if your new to racing, sell the NTC3 and get a MTX-3. I think the MTX-3 is the best chassis for someone to learn on. Super strong and can be as fast as the rest. Sorry I didnt gave you this info before, but by the time I read your previous thread, you already had bought a NTC3...

I agree - it's never too late! Mugen all the way for toughness, mugen quality, and a great car. The NTC3 is great too, but won't be as tough as a Mugen. I personally like the Mtx3/4 quality and engineering better than the older R40s. The Hara R40 is the only R40 I'd get....then again that "exclusive" chassis is quite expensive.

A car's going to be a car until he hones his driving skills.

Use what you got and learn to drive. Then upgrade.

You have to define "outdated".....some company like to create a "R" version after 8 months release of the car, then some will create a 'WC" version after the big race win...then some will do a "Refine 1" then "Refine 2" 6 months apart....does that make the original chassis outdated..? AE only had 2 version of NTC3 within the last 4 years, I think AE does elminitated a lot of car owner worry about new version will be out 3 months after they purchased their car...

NTC3 is STILL (my opinion) the easiest, lightest, up to spec 200mm TC compare to the current model.........I will not say it is still the best handling car or fastest right now, but it is still be FAST enough for any A-main racing. BIg or small track, National or local club racing.

Comment like NTC3 cannot last for more then 4 minutes....that is NOT the car, it is the driver/owner, almost 99% of the time. No car can last more then 1 minute if the BOARD and WALL are where the car is heading...
And talk about the weight....if NTC3 is NOT the lightest (stock or even optioned) in the market, I really do not know who is....I know it is not R40, not even 04 or 05 or HARA or whatever edition.

My 0.02 cents.....
