I'll check with Stephen Bess, but the full write-up with high-res images and all the relevant details will be in an upcoming issue of RC Car, after the write-ups on the World Championships.

Question - if I post a 1200 pixel wide image of Terry's car here, is that too big for here? If not, I'll get it uploaded later today. It does show off the paint job very nicely!

I'm not knocking the concourse work at all... it was fabulous , but I do believe ROAR rules state you have to actually run the body on the track during competition...... I didn't see many of those bodies on the track.

After reading all the replies I have some questions/thoughts...

What is the best way to start an onroad main that is fair and equal?
Does the race timer start when the horn sounds or the first car hits the lap counter?

Keep in mind that the the Top qualifiers should have some kind of advantage for being the fastest, second fastest, etc....

Horn/sound is not the answer as there are some hearing impaired people that might not be able to pick up the sound.

Flagman; if you are back in the grid you have to look at the flagman and then your car to start.

A set of lights; around the track like they have in F1 and NASCAR, cost $$$$
to install and hooked into the timing system. Hmm... a drag racing X-mas tree
might be a place to start....

Electric cars; The car can sit there until some type of signal is given.

Gas is a different story, can't sit there for too long, the car will die on the grid.

A rolling start, like everyone could go the same slow speed....

Have your pit person hold the car until they are given the signal to start which adds a new set of people to the main.

Have the mains line up in a single file on the racing groove?

Have a starting system like they do in the pine car and soapbox derby?
Can't wait to see some one create that one..

Or a starting system like in motorcross? Or like the America's Cup yacth?
Maybe like the Kentucky Derby.......

Dunno..... I look forward to reading what people think.....

because the pit people have to hold the cars off the ground to keep them cleaned out so they don't flame out at the start. if the pit people were on the track it would be a mess.

These are excellent questions and a great topic. Enough so that starting a new thread has merit.

Default Concourse bodies!

The winner of the concourse had to run the body in his or her main. As for the other bodies, they could be put away.

I didn't see the main with the concourse winning body so I can't be sure.

Hello All,

Before anything starts going .......
I did run the body in the main, race management
( Scott Ernst ) even called it out as the race was
running that the Concourse winning body was on
the track. The whole purpose for announcing the
winner after qualifying was over was to let the
winner know that they should run it the next day
in the main. By the way, correct me if I'm wrong .......
I believe it states in the ROAR Rules that the Concourse
winning body has to be able to Run on the track with no
mandatory rule that it must. I do not have my Rule book
with me here but am interested to know ... never the less!
I Ran it!

Take care!

Terry

Can't speak for the rest of the concours entries, but the concours winner, Downtown Terry Brown, did make many laps around the track with his winning body installed.

Hello all this is Jeremy Cupps i was Terry Browns pit guy for his main, and he did run it, and the body still looks awsome after his race. It looked even better going around the track than it did sitting there. I only wish i could paint half as good as Terry.

Thumbs up Thanks!!

I would like to thank all the Cicinnati crew, this was my first time racing out of state and all I can say is that it was awesome, it was a lot more than what I was expecting. Great announcing by Scotty and great service at all times by all the Cicinnati people.
I would also like to thank all the Serpent Team for the great support; it was really nice to be with you guys for the week, I promise that I will not talk that much next time
