Default 1/18th Nitro Touring....Xray NT18

The kits should be here this week. and there will be lots to share. The m18 shares most of its parts. I would like to know if anybody is starting a class for this little car. I ran it at the Winternats and it is very stable and was supprized to see how well it handled.

Would like to see pictures and paintjobs, setup info like tire shore and some other items. One thing that I was told directly was that the One-way made it very hard to drive and control, so that has been checked off my list of items to buy. Now, I am waiting for my kit to arrive. They are limited to 1500 units the first year worl-wide, That has something to do with engine production from what I have overheard.

Just waiting.....

Cool Limited production - doubt it.

Don't worry about limited production - if this thing takes off - I'll bet there will be no shortage of motors. I just think manufacturers lay eggs like that in the press to rush customers to buy their product or "we will run out"

My LHS has five of them on the shelf and nitro is not fashionable or environmentally acceptable where I live and race.

I saw one built up with the steel chassis - I liked how it had much higher ground clearance than the electric. You oughtta see the tiny disk brake - need magnifying glasses to work on them!

I'd like to see a mamba electric take on a nitro - that'd be a good comparison. Seems like the nitro would really chew up some tires with wheel spin.

The LHS said they will release a truck version of the 1:18 nitro for the dirt guys - maybe they are saving motors for the truck - now that would make sense.

yea, the LHS I ordered 2 through hasn't gotten them yet. But others around me have. I feel obligated to wait and see when they get them. I come back from Mexico next week and I hope they have them in by then. I have a case already set-up with the stuff I need to make it a "CASE CAR"... Its an aluminium case that I am going to have evrything I need for this car. Fuel, radio (JR-R1) charger (ICE) Battery (12v starterbox/charger) and parts, tools, tires, ect. All in an aluminum case........The starter box will be mounted inside with the outside having a door to flip open for access. As soon as I get all the parts for it, I will finnish it up and have it ready for pics.

My local hobbyshop ( HobbyTown USA, Fremont ) just received 6 kits along with 6 starter boxes yesterday. The starter boxes are pretty kewl looking and made with alot of detail and thought. The starter boxes are made of aluminum ( 6065 I believe ), and it has Hudy's laser itch lettering along with top quality internal parts ( belt, motor, etc.... ). It'l be interesting to see if 1/18th scale nitro wil take off just like the 1/18th scale off-road electric craze that's going on right now.

Default Cost?

So what does the car w/wo radio and starter box cost?

I doubt if there is any aggressive discounting, Xray seems
to like their revenue!

Just picked up the car and box last night. $310 for the kit and 80 for the box. I spent 2 hours building the car and am down to the radio tray part. I see a need for ball diffs and I'm changing out the shocks for some aluminum ones. and I am adding another battery to the pack. Other than that, this will stay stock. Also ordred a Mazda 6 body for it.

Cool Diffs

If the Mamba's blew out the stock plastic diffs, nitro would really eat them up. The metal diffs are preassembled and nice - also expensive but mandatory.

Check out the HPI micro metal antenae (sp?) = better than a plastic tube.

Let us know how it runs!

all the adds I read was that the engine was a .5cc engine. Now I am seeing that the one in my kit is a .8cc... The kit is done, I switched to a 5 cell pack due to the use of Spektrum, but With the spektrum receiver, I wasn't able to use the on/off switch. I am thinking of putting the receiver on the steering servo and use the on/off switch, but hadn't done it yet. Sorry, no pics yet, wifey has camera at work.
