Our first race on 1/10 on road!!!
Yesterday was our first race of the championship here.It was our first time racing on road after a year on 1/8th buggies.My brother was driving a serpent 710 with O.S. TZ-3 and started qualifying rounds with rookies since it was our first time on the track.
He made the 7th best time and he was made an offer to race at the pro class since he made better times.
So we accepted and finished 4th at the final.Best time was 147laps and my bro made 133laps with best time difference 0.5sec from the first.
We also had problems with air leaks at the engine(leaning out sometimes at bottom end) but it came out just fine,finishing the race at 250F but i had to make the pit stops every 4(mins):30(sec)mins.Also notice that for the 5 mins qualifying we run out of gas at 5:10mins.
Anyone has any ideas on what caused the engine runtime so low?
The airleak should lean it out but...???
Front gear or ball differential???Need info on how it works!!!

Gearing is also a major factor in fuel economy....if you can try and find out what gearing the other Serpent guys were running.....too heavy a clutch setting will also result in heavier fuel consumption.

If your track has a fairly long straight you`ll probably find that you`ll need to change to a taller gearing to get more runtime from your engine.
The centax clutch is adjustable to engage at various rpm depending on the tension of the spring.......if its set too hard then the engine will be carrying a heap of rpm before the clutch engages and fuel economy will suffer.

first thing is get some rocket science or odonals race formula, and make it 20%, that motor runs better on a little higher nitro content. Then take the smaller shim out from under the head. This should make the engine run better. I have the TZ3 and im running 20% rocket science and love it. I think your brother said you were using wildcat fule. In my experieance its not the best for racing, its cheeper but not as good. And again do take the small shim out of the motor. Look in your instructions it even says that it comes shimed for 30% and if your running 20 u can take it out.
