Default worn out clutch bell?

How can you tell if a clutch bell is worn out. I recently got a used shepherd and it came with several clutch bells. Some look pretty new but others are worn thro the coating down to the steel. Are these bells bad or is there any way to tell if they are bad. I ran the car with one of the used bells and my shoe was dusting pretty bad. Is this because of the worn out bell or caused by the settings I used or maybe both?

Steel bells don't wear out unless they somehow get physically damaged.

Some steel clutch bells that have been overheated will warp. Just make sure the bell has no grooves on the inside were clutch shoe engages and that the bell spins true with no wobble. Aluminum bells wear more quickly.

Pass you soon...
