Default HPI Trophy 4.6v2 Truggy RTR

Hi guys!
Recently purchased a HPI Trophy 4.6v2 Truggy RTR and I've been wondering has anything much changed in the last 3-5 years in R/C world in terms of safety? It's been a while since my last R/C so thought I ask someone who's more experienced:

I.E. is it still worth adding nitro kill switch in case the car decides to go off or has anyone experience full throttle getting stuck? The same when batteries would go flat and truggy decides to go it's own way?

Thanks!
