If I were new I would probably go with a NoveRossidirect.com Nova engine. 5 or 7 port factory broke in. If you want an OS get it from store.pro-s-futaba.co.jp. They come straight out of Japan but shipping is cheap and fast. and you can get them lapped or pre broken in also for a little more $. You'll save a couple hundred going through them. I'm stuck on the new piccos personally. You can get them from A-main for around 300 or a little less with 10% off coupon. Reds has a 5 port and pipe/header for 250 I believe, that's a hell of a deal. I wouldn't break the bank but I also wouldn't go super cheap. Make sure you break-in whatever you get really well. Good luck, take your time, stay calm and the fun will come soon.

In my opinion the Nova P5 is an excellent engine for anyone, regardless of skill level. I believe I ran a 4101 and a 9901 on mine. Super easy to tune, holds a tune, and has great power.

Also if you don't want to spend that much, I found this on hobbyking. I don't know much about it, but for the price you really cant go wrong.

Don't know if you caught the off-road nitro engine thread? It's up above on the nitro off road page. It escaped me for quite some time.

Have you tuned with the carb restrictors, and different pipe / header combos?

But you should probably read through the OS Engine threads a bit, there is quite a bit of info to be found.

WERKS B7 Kortz Edition with 2058 pipe. Very smooth, makes driving easier, but still enough torque and the top end is simply stunning. The new horizontal carb is doing a great job!
