Default .21 engine and starter box help

I got a sworkz s350 rtr buggy. i had 8 tanks on the motor when it didn't want to start and would not turn over. The glow plug had thick oil/metal all over. Fouling out plugs, I took it apart and the piston has come apart where the pin slides in. Broke off some metal then went to the rest of the motor. It's toast.

If I knew this I would have got a kit and build it. Both the servos even went out at tank 3

Anyways, I need a new motor now and a starter box.

Motor budget is $200

Starter box with battery budget is $100

Please help out any suggestions will be appreciated

Thank you

Best for the money right now is the Elite 5 or the paloma ltd.

ELITE 5OFF

PALOMA .21LIMITED

I own both of those engines and they are absolutely excellent. Break-in easy and tune very nicely.

Get either of those engines will free up more cash in your budget for a good starter box and battery because I don't believe you will find a good box and battery for 100.

Amain has these:

It's pretty much the same as the Mugen boxes.

Thanks for the feedback! Those motors looks great, how do they compare to the nova p5?

THe ELite 5 is pretty much the same thing as the P5. From what I understand, the piston is different. THe Elite 5 keeps up with the P5 no problem. I also have a Beat 5 which is a P5 with a head made for Mugen so I know from experience.

The Paloma ltd is stronger than the P5, Elite 5, and Beat 5. From what I understand, people are using that one in their truggys. Mines in an 8 1/2 lb OFNA and it pushes it like a 7 1/2 lb car.

Thanks! Great information on those motors, seems the Paloma will be the bestoption for me.

Another question, I'll be able to run my stock rtr pipe and header? Should work fine?

Should work. If I recall correctly, the S Works RTR comes with a pretty nice pipe but I've never used that pipe before so I can't be 100% sure.

Yeah it looks similar to some os pipes but there is nothing my written on it. Sounds good

Now just gotta decide on the starter box, I remember years ago when I use to be into this hobby like crazy I always had starter box issues with the wheel hitting the bottom of the chassis. The motors going out..not enough power..replacing wheels..etc..

I just want a reliable box that will turn over a fresh engine without any problems

Thanks

I have several different starter boxes. All of them newer and all of them work really well.

The Kyosho box has a little smaller wheel on it and fits up in there really good.

The Protek box needs a little work to make it work good.

The Mugen box, I have 3, works good too.

+1 on the Nova, thats like the Toyota 22 of the RC world, it juat runs good, good mileage, and not too finicky on carb setup.

I wanted to add, pick up a spare starterbox wheel for the one you want. And also if anything run a good airfilter and get spare foams for it as well. The dys of reusing filters is past, and nothing beats a new preoiled filter element.

Have fun with your buggy

Seems like the Kuroshio box is the best one for me..with the smaller wheel. Now I just need to find it somewhere in stock with and extra wheel and a battery

What's the difference between the kyosho pro 2.0 box and red 2.0? Just color?

In stock:

https://www.absolutehobbyz.com/Kyosh..._p_487329.html

But from what I've seen over the years, Amain isn't out of stock on that box for very long.

I don't know if there's any other difference between them except color.

I almost bought a red one once because it would have been so cool to go with the build I was working on but I couldn't see $15 just for a color difference.

And I don't know what size the wheel is in the red box. I just know the wheel in the black box is smaller. For all we know, that might be another difference between them.

I have the AE version of that box.

It's pretty good and works with my Hyper 7 perfectly but not my best starter box.

For $40 and you got a good battery with it, you did quite well.
