I'm 99.9% sure that whatever racing they get in by Sunday is IT. I don't think they make any plans to race past the scheduled date (Sunday)

They just pulled the tarps and the track is not in terrible shape for the most part. That track crew does a great job. Should be racing within an hour or so.

If you plan it in July or August then there's also heat index issues during those times of the year. I think since winter wasn't so heavy this year we are getting all this crazy amounts of rain.

I went to Motorama this past year in February and it was 50s and 60s. listening to all the drivers talk about previous years of being snowstorms and subzero.... its hard to say what weather will be when you sign up in November and the race isn't until February.
I just think that any mitigation that can be done should. It wont be perfect and luckily it seems like this track crew is on it. I want to see good racing for the most prestigious trophy in the US. I know all about midwest weather. Born and raised in Chicago. Lets hope the weather lets up and they can get busy racing and us arm chair guys rooting for whomever and enjoying the coverage.

Congratulations to Jared Tebo, our newly-crowned 2017 ROAR nats champ! What an awesome race it was on that crazy rough track. Did I hear right that shortly after retiring, Maifield's radio ended up in pieces?

Will it get contested with Tebo's transponder doing some very bizarre lap times?

what is there to contest? he finished the same amount of laps as lutz, 10 seconds faster.. that means he won

Tebos transponder quit working halfway through the race and he was hand counted.

There are two ROAR rules that counteract each other. One basically says you won't be scored if your transponder fails. Another says you have to have the numbers visible on the car to allow for accurate hand scoring in case of a transponder failure. I agree that Tebo has a clear win and I don't see ROAR taking it away from him.

yes im aware of the transponder failure half way through, i watched the live stream. but the decision was made almost instantly to manually count laps due to the lack of clear rules from Roar. so while the individual lap times might be off, he still crossed the line 10 seconds in front of 2nd. no one can contest that.

Default No contradiction in rules...

I don't know where you've found a contradiction in the rules but as far as I can see there isn't one.

Tebo's laps according to the ROAR rule book wouldn't be counted if there was no transponder - "If a transponder is
not installed, is lost, or falls out during a race, the driver will not be scored in
that race."

But he had one in there and it failed - so . they count his laps manually... and he dominated.

Not sure what tracks you are referring to but our tracks in west cost get rough, dusty...etc. We raced in 108 degree weather last night. I grew up in the Midwest so I'm aware of the tracks out there, too.
